Today was the last day of our focused learning. We have covered a huge amount of work and produced an amazing amount of work.

Today was the 5th week of focused learning.

The cooking group were a huge success today – they made two batches of cookies in less than an hour!

As a class we have learned a lot from each other – by watching other groups do the activities and by evaluating our performance with proper next steps.

Today we had a workshop from the Marine Conservation Society who are campaigning for a “deposit buyback” scheme for all plastic, glass and tin bottles/cans.

They taught us all about leather back turtles, including what they eat, where they live, how they live and how our waste effects them.

We are going to take part in the scheme to try to persuade the Scottish government to introduce a deposit buyback scheme to help reduce the amount of waste that ends up in the ocean.

Maths

Each child has been given a list of different homework they can do related to time. You can choose exactly which of these you do. Record which ones you do in your homework jotter.

Active learn – I have added lots of time activities and some algebra activities for you to work through – the more you do, the more you will know!

We have moved to new seats and as a result are building new teams.

The most important things during this are that everyone at the group is included, everyone is treated with respect and that we are able to work together to achieve a common goal.

The first thing we had to achieve was to create a team handshake!

We have also designed and created group mascots.

Today in Maths we continued our time games competition!

The record of 4250 points was beaten and now sits at 4750 with a maximum score of 5000 possible!

In language we were continuing to read non-fiction books with a focus on finding information quickly and efficiently.

Remember – for science tomorrow bring in a bottle of tap water from your house! we are going to test the different types of water to see what the differences are!

Today we were exploring the different types of plants and animals in the area around the school.
We found 6 different plants with flowers on them and we even found some of our bees feeding on a tree up beside the peace garden.

We also hung out bird feeders for birds in the local area.

In maths we have started a topic on time. We are identifying what time skills we are confident with and which ones we need more practice on
