Today we had sports day. We did many different activities including bouncy castles, scooter races, go carts, hamster balls all thanks to Micro Fitness. Sports Day was different, because we went round the different stations in our classes and thankfully, the weather was stayer clear. We also came to school in our sports clothes.

Today we were lucky enough to have the band from Greenfaulds High School to perform for the school. We were learning about the different instruments and maybe next year we will be able to join them?

Today in class we were learning about complementary angles. Complementary angles are two angles that become complementary when the turn to 90 degrees (a right angle)📐 We use protractors to measure how long the angle is to make sure it’s 90 degrees🍉

Numeracy
In numeracy we have been learning how to classify, measure and draw angles accurately. We have also been developing our skills in using a protractor to help us do this. It is important to use accurate vocabulary to classify angles. E.g. acute, right, obtuse, straight and reflex angles.
Ideas for further practise at home:
• Create a mnemonic to help you remember the number of degrees in each class of angle: Acute = 0˚ – 89˚, right = 90˚, obtuse = 91˚ – 179˚, straight = 180˚ and reflex = 181˚ – 360˚
• Identify and classify the angles that you see in the house and outside. E.g. the angle of the escalator in the shop

Literacy
Reading: We have been analysing the writing of Michael Morpurgo. We identified plots and themes, characters and their personalities, narration, use of punctuation and tone. We used the information we gathered to help us write our own chapter in the style of Michael Morpurgo.
Writing: – We have been learning how to write in the same style as the author. It is important to think about the plot, characters, tense, 1st or 3rd person as well as tone.
Grammar: prepositions – Together we have been revising our knowledge of prepositions, what they are and the information they give you.

Ideas for further practise at home:
• Create 5 Top Tips for writing in the same style as an author. You can include illustrations or diagrams to help the reader understand.
• Why not try writing your own chapter from your favourite book or author? Remember it might make it easier if you don’t know what happens next!

Biodiversity
We have been developing our knowledge of ecosystem diversity by investigating habitats and all the living species within them. We have also been identifying food chains within different habitats including ones found around the school.
Ideas for further practise at home:
• Can you create a poster or information leaflet promoting biodiversity in your area?
• Complete a biodiversity audit of a habitat near you and write down all the creatures you find. Become a taxonomist and classify them into vertebrate or invertebrate then identify if they are a mammal, fish, insect, amphibian etc.

Today in health and well being we learned about drugs. In our groups we were given a certain drug to talk about and we presented our facts for the rest of the class. Some of the different drugs were cannabis and cocaine. Every group had a sheet with information and we had a picture of the inside of a body and labelled what your groups drugs can do to certain parts of your body,what you may feel and different effects mentally and physically. Today 10 of the primary 7 went up to the high school. We were in the P.E    department. We were doing dancing and football. We were in groups of 5. There were 5 schools there: Westfield, Condorrat, Ravenswood, Woodlands and Baird memorial. In football we came 3rd and in dancing we came 2nd. To pick the winners we played games of tug of war and came 3rd and Westfield came 2nd and Baird memorial came 1st.

Today Primary Seven have been learning how to write in a specified style. We have read chapters one and two of a book and are now writing our own version of chapter three.

Today in science we made a food chain for my local enviment. We learned words about the food chain example: producer, primary consumer herbivore, secondary consumer o,tertiary consumer carnivore. And we had to write it in Oder.

Today we went out and looked at different types of habitats we found an ant, blackbird,butterfly,snail and a centipede now we can identify vertabrates and invertabrates.

Invertebrates are animals that have no backbone. Although many are small and therefore difficult to see, are immensely varied and are everywhere , making up about 97 known species.⚽️

Vertebrates are animals that have backbone’s. Mammals are a type of vertebrate, birds are a type of vertebrate, reptiles are a type of vertebrate and fish are a type of vertebrate.Mammals are animals that have hair, are warm-blooded and drink milk when they are babies!💋
