Well done to everyone, the shelters showed great creativity, effort and skill.

In ICT we were exploring a new computer program called “Kodu”.

We had to explore the program to work out how to build a place, create characters and make them move.

Finally, Katy got a book from the library of ww2 poems and read one for the class.

lundi le vingt sept février

This morning the Baldy Bane company delivered a very interesting and thought-provoking presentation about road safety.

The pupils had the opportunity to direct scenes so that outcomes of the scene were different and more successful.

Tomorrow is Mardi Gras. We learnt a little about the festival today as part of French. If you can, have a look at the carnivals in Nice and New Orleans.

Happy Friday!

We have had some brilliant Anderson Shelters so far! People have been very creative and have followed the success criteria very well!

Next week we will be showing them to other classes and they will be able to vote for which one they think is the best!

In art we have been learning about mid-tones by using smudging and blurring.

Enjoy your weekend, I know I will!

WW2 poems and Air Raid shelters

We have been thinking about how to layout our writing.

We created WW2 poems for homework and created a layout that showed that it was a serious subject, but used colour, included a border and organised the writing evenly.

In ICT we were researching air raid shelters, specifically diagrams of how they were built and what materials were used to make them.

Homework week beginning 20th February

WW2

http://www.primaryhomeworkhelp.co.uk/war/shelters.htm

This week for homework you need to make something! Look at the website above and explore the design of an air raid shelter. They were simple buildings that people made out of whatever they had lying around. You need to do the same.

Make an air raid shelter (or specifically an Anderson Shelter if you want) out of whatever you can find lying around the house – cereal boxes, newspaper, egg cartons etc.

Your shelter needs the following

  • A door
  • A roof

Bonus points for

  • A bed
  • Sand bags
  • Part of it being underground.
  • Camouflage

The shelters will be due on 27th February so you can have the weekend to work on them as well!

There will be a prize for the three best shelters!

Maths –  active learn – I’ve added new games, so keep playing them
