Gardening potatoes

Today in class we did gardening and we were in teams of four. We found lots of potatoes and there were small ones and big ones and even MASSIVE ones.

Coral found a really big one that looked like one hundred potatoes stuck together.

after lunch, we learned how to chop vegetables safely and made potato soup!

Enjoy your weekend and don’t forget to be in school for 845 for Kilbowie on Monday! practice putting sheets onto your bed this weekend!

Wednesday 22nd August

Today in PE, we were learning to be tougher!

We explored some different movements to help us improve our fitness and to learn to not quit!

one of these movements was the plank and we used the plank for a race between boys and girls.

The girls crushed the boys!

Try this challenge at home

  • 10 squats
  • 40 star jumps
  • 30 seconds plank

Can you do this 3 times?

don’t forget, outdoor clothes tomorrow for gardening!

Tuesday 21st August

Today we were exploring our new Maths topic – PLACE VALUE

This means

  • where is the PLACE for this number?
  • what is the VALUE of this number?

We created a mind map of all the things we need to learn to be able to understand PLACE VALUE.

Tomorrow we are going to start with reading, writing and ordering numbers.

Don’t forget P.E. tomorrow – bring your P.E. kit.

Monday 20th August

This morning, Mrs Rutherford took us for P.E. we were improving our football skills!

Today we were refreshing our times tables with a game called “most of 100″

We then used this to help us with further understanding our attitudes to maths.

On Thursday and Friday this week, we are going to be gardening so everyone needs to bring spare shoes and a change of trousers. If you have wellies or boots, bring them!

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday!

Today in school we were learning about each other’s names. We used this to improve our handwriting. Good handwriting starts with good spelling and it also has joins. If you want it to be super fancy, try italics (optional).

We also woke our brains up at the start of the day with “finding the mistakes” with punctuation and grammar.

Something I enjoyed about school today was ICT because “we got to use new programme”  – Leah – and “we got the opportunity to be creative” – Logan

Next week I am looking forward to P.E. because it’s the first session of the year and it is super fun. Mr McMullan is going to be pushing our fitness to the limits so we better practice this weekend so we can survive.

First day of Primary 6/7

Today was our first day of Primary 6/7.

The most important thing to know about today was that

TEAM WORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK!” Rhys.

We spent lots of time building a strong team today. We explored what makes a good team by competing in challenges.

We identified 10 things as the “recipe for an effective team”.

  1. including everyone
  2. taking turns
  3. communication
  4. listen to each other
  5. help each other
  6. planning
  7. clear instructions
  8. compromising
  9. trust
  10. respect

Today we learned how to read a book which doesn’t have writing. We then created a piece of writing about ourselves to get to know each other better.

Top tip – take your time to study the images to see what information you can learn from it.

We harvested peas and broad beans that were planted before the summer. Some people thought they were delicious.

mmmmm yum” Ciaran

Tomorrow we are doing daily mile and making birthday cards, read more of our class graphic novel and design our maths wall!
