P6G pendulum painting galaxies
P6G had a great afternoon experimenting with colour and the method of pendulum painting!
We used pictures of galaxies as a stimulus and created elliptical patterns with paint. It was not easy and is probably best done outside. There was paint everywhere!! We worked well as a team and shared thoughts about the height of the bottle and size of shape.
Have a look at our galaxies .
P1Y learning about stranger danger with PC Johnston.
PC Johnston came to visit our class to talk to us about Stranger Danger. We learned about who we could ask if we needed help, and these people are called safe strangers.
PC Johnston also talked to us about keeping safe on line, remembering that there could be strangers there who might want to talk to us.
We had fun looking at the equipment that PC Johnston had on his uniform. The person on the other end of PC Johnson’s radio said hello to us!
P1F French Breakfast
P1F have been learning about healthy eating and the benefits of eating a healthy breakfast. We have also been learning some vocabulary in our French work, of which some words were rather familiar! So we decided to join the learning and have a French breakfast in class. We practiced our vocabulary and then had to ask for the items we would like in French! Next we rated each item of food and decided we would love to go to France!!
P7’s Sharing the Learning with P1F
Last week P1F were visited by a group of talented writers from P7 who entertained them by reading their own version of the Gruffalo in Scots. P1 really enjoyed it and they also loved their illustrations. P1 then decided to entertain the P7’s by reciting the Scots poem they had learned! Thanks P7 and please come back soon!
Scots Poetry Judging
The class Scots Poetry competitions were judged today. All class teachers judged different classes throughout the school. This was not an easy job but they all thoroughly enjoyed their morning. The standards were very high and children once again have put a fantastic amount of effort into learning and reciting their poems. The winners from each class will perform their poems next week at assembly. Photos to follow.

Primary 4/5 Titanic
Primary 4/5 started their new Titanic topic this week and have created a gigantic Titanic on their class wall! They worked together in small groups on different aspects of the ship and then brought it all together – a masterpiece!
The class then evaluated their display and their team work skills. They were able to give reasons as to why they had been effective contributors.
The class will add more to their display as their topic progresses.
P7 Burns Competition
For the last few weeks Primary 7 have been busy learning their extracts from Tam O’Shanter for the annual P7 Burns Competition.
The children have worked extremely hard to learn the pieces, as well as applying their drama skills, using facial expressions and actions, to retell the story.
They were also challenged with choosing a scene from the poem to collage. The children used a variety of materials to create some wonderful finished pieces, which can be seen below.
On Thursday 16th February, Mr Cathro came to judge both the poetry and collage competitions. Our winners were as follows:
Poetry
1st – Leon Pipe
2nd – Orrin Carson
3rd – Sam McKnight
Collage
1st – Molly Boynton
2nd – Tamzin Jolley
3rd – Kerrie Pendleton
Miss Clendinning, Mrs Burn and Mrs Duncan were all very proud of all of the children for their effort. Well done everyone!!!

P1F Winter work!
Recently P1 have been learning about Winter. We enjoyed investigating ice by looking closely at our ‘ice balloons’ including adding some salt, food colouring and floating it in hot and cold water! We also wrote stories about a snowman, had fun printing snowscenes and snowmen and also created a cold winter tree scene.
