Primary 7 3.5.19

We can’t quite believe we have reached May already, in true Primary 7 style our last term looks like it will be as busy as all the others!

Primary 7 have decided that they would like to leave a legacy for the rest of the school in the form of a campaign involving environmental messages that they hope will be adopted by all. They have also thought of a physical legacy and are currently working on plans to achieve this …watch this space!

For this term we have changed our language homework, moving the focus away from predominantly spelling to boosting our vocabulary. Within our classrooms we have Word Boost Walls, please ask your child for an explanation of how we use these walls. Each Monday, your child will choose FIVE words. They will research the meaning of each word and write a sentence for each word. Various stimuli will be provided throughout the school week but the pupils may choose their words independently. Jotters must be handed in on a Friday at the latest. If a pupil does not finish their sentences in class they should complete them as homework.

We are studying data handling in maths, if you use spreadsheets or any other forms of data handling at home or in work please discuss what you use it for with your child. We are currently compiling, displaying and analysing information.

Your child was given a letter regarding our Living and Growing topic this term. We aim to start using this resource next week, please contact the school ASAP if you would like to discuss any aspect of this area of the curriculum.

The prom committee met for the first time this week. They will be helping to organise the decorations, picking what food will be served and deciding on any other activities they may want at the prom. Their first job is to ask the rest of P7 for any ideas and thoughts. The excitement is building!

The residential trip to France is coming up fast! The children are being given reminders in school to help them organise their belongings. Remember if your child needs medication please collect the appropriate form from the school office. Bonjour!

Primary 7 31.5.18

Hello everyone

We are approaching a very busy and exciting time in Primary 7! Next week the majority of children will take part in a full week of transition activities up at Deans Community High School. Children should come to Carmondean on Monday morning (4th June) at the regular time of 8:50am. Mrs Macaulay & I will then walk the children up to the high school for around 9:20am where they will meet their tutor group and begin to follow their timetable as they will in August. On Wednesday, the children will take part in an activity called the “Hurricane Challenge” instead of following their timetable. Most of this activity will take place outdoors so the children should attend the High School on that day dressed appropriately for the weather.

IMPORTANT: The children should make their own way up to DCHS for the normal time of 8:30am on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings. They will return to Carmondean on Monday 11th June.

Rehearsals for our Leavers Assembly are in full swing and the children are working hard to make props and gifts for the ceremony. Please encourage your child to work on learning any words they need to memorise and also learning the words to the 3 songs that we will be performing at the Leavers Assembly on Wednesday 27th June.

The children have been working very hard both in school and at home to finish and perfect their “My Life so Far” projects that they have been working on since August. The final copies are due in tomorrow and Mrs Macaulay and I are so impressed with the quality of these projects. We can’t wait to see the final projects tomorrow. The children will present them at the upper school assembly later on in June.

Important days/dates:

Outdoor PE: Monday
Outdoor/Indoor PE with Mrs Ferguson: Wednesday

Leavers Assembly: Wednesday 27th June @ 1:30pm
Prom: Deer Park Golf & Country Club on Thursday 28th June 6-6:30pm arrival until 9:00pm *Please note* Prom letters have been handed out and should be returned by Monday 11th June.

Have a lovely weekend.

Primary 7 – 26-06-17

Hello,

Last Monday the children came back with lots of stories about what they had been getting up to at High School. They had a great time during their week at High School and hopefully they shared these stories with you!

On Tuesday the children visited Aberdour beach with their P1 buddies. It was a great day and the children enjoyed playing in the water and the sand. Primary 7 really looked after their buddies making sure that they were safe at all times.

On Wednesday the children took part in sports day. Luckily the rain held off for the most part! The children worked really well in their teams to gain points for their Houses. Well done to Waverley for winning overall.

We have been practising for our Leavers’ Assembly which will be on Wednesday 28th June at 1.30pm. Please remember to send in your request for tickets as soon as possible. We look forward to seeing you there!

On Friday the children showcased all their work based on the ERASMUS+ Project. Primary 7s focus was on Bulgaria. The children were able to show their parents the work that they had been doing and the work other classes had been doing. Thank you for your support during this open morning.

The P7 Prom takes place on Thursday 29th June at 6pm and will be held at Deer Park. The Prom Committee will go up on Thursday afternoon and decorate the room in preparation for this. The children are very excited about this and we are looking forward to seeing them all dressed up! A good time will hopefully be had by all.

On the last day of term the children can bring in their Carmondean Polo shirts and shirts for others to sign with good luck messages.

Thank you for all of your support throughout the year and we wish you well in the next chapter of your child’s school life.

Primary 7 – 05.05.17

Hello,

A short but productive week in Primary 7.

In writing the children planned and created a leaflet/poster explaining what it is like to be a buddy. These are very informative and the children will present them to P6 soon.

The children evaluated making their fairy house with their P1 buddy. Everyone was able to come up with 2 stars and a wish for their fairy house.

The Prom Committee had their first meeting on Wednesday where they have started to organise the Prom. They will be speaking to their class next week to make decisions about the theme, food, music and any extras they want at the prom.

The children are continuing to work on Didbook. They finished their personal statement and have started writing about ‘Me’. Remember the children can access this at home so you can see what they have written.

The children going to France organised their groups for the theme park. We will be having a further discussion with them next week giving reminders about what to pack and do for their residential experience. Remember no electronic devices that are Wifi enabled are to be brought.

Thank you for your continued support.

Important information for Primary 7!

We hope Primary 7 have had a great transition week up at Deans Community High School. We can’t believe how quickly this term has gone and that our time with you is almost at an end. Although we only have a week and a half left at school we still have so much to do P7! So we look forward to welcoming you back to school on Monday with a hard-working and motivated attitude.

Some important points to remember:
– Please continue to practise our Leavers assembly songs over the weekend. You should know all of the words by Monday.
– If you have any lines to learn for the assembly please also continue to practise them.
– If you are part of the drama section of the assembly – please begin to think about your costumes! Please don’t feel the need to buy anything new but feel free have a rummage in your cupboards over the weekend.
– Our dress rehearsal is on Thursday afternoon when we are performing in front of the Primary 2 and 3 classes.
– Our Leavers Assembly is on Monday 27th June beginning at 1:30pm. Parents &  other adults – please let the office know if you are planning on attending.
– P7 Prom is next Tuesday (28th June!) All of the teacher invites you created have been distributed. If you still need to buy a ticket or would like professional photos taken at the event please let the office know next week.

Have a lovely weekend Primary 7! We are looking forward to seeing you on Monday and hearing all your exciting news 🙂
