This page is where you will find information about Rights Respecting Schools at Carmondean PS.

September 2021

Carmondean Primary are delighted to announce we have achieved gold standard in the Rights Respecting Schools Award.

In March the children showcased the work we have been doing the last 3 years to ensure that Rights are embedded in the life of the school and help guide children and adults in the choices they make. The assessors had been so impressed with the children and their knowledge of Rights and how important they are.

In June we then heard the good news that we had achieved the Gold level award.

We had a grand unveiling of the banner on Monday 6th September 2021. It is next to the main entrance so everyone who visits can see what we have achieved!

We are very proud of this award!

January, 2019

We have begun looking again at Children’s Rights and the UNCRC Articles that make up our school charter during assemblies. So far we have looked at:

Article 1: Everyt child under the age of 18 has all the rights of the UNCRC

Article 7: Every child has the right to a name and a nationality

Article 12: Every child has tghe right to be heard and have an opinion

Article 28: Every child has the right to a free primary education

September, 2016

We are still unable to join up with Knightsridge, so work on RSSA will be carried on through school assemblies in the meantime.

April, 2016

We have had to halt our work with Knightsridge PS due to staffing difficulties. We may be able to pick it up in the new school year.

January, 2016

We will be re-launching our Carmondean RRSA Committee this month and will also be starting a partnership with Knightsridge Primary School. We hope to learn from each other as well as make links with both schools through regular meetings.
