We were very busy learning how to count up to 20. We were practising writing our numbers to 20 and using objects to count.
We also started to learn how to subtract with cubes.
In sounds,we learnt about the ‘ai’ sound and we made name trains. We did some super writing all about Dogger. We had to write about something we had lost.

Brooke really enjoyed learning about our growth and fixed mind set. She likes that a growth mind set is one where you keep on trying and don’t give in. Logan enjoyed trying out his HTU subtracting work and really wants to get better at it. Zoe enjoyed group work for enterprise because she liked organising the list of things that the group are planning on doing for advertising our Christmas venture. Laura liked letting her imagination go when deciding what to do in the crafts group for enterprise- lots of great ideas! All of the groups liked talking together and making decisions about what we are going to be doing. Some of us have started sewing and Alexander really liked this as he didn’t know how to sew. He thinks that it’s not that tricky now. Mrs Balfour is loving the positive attitude in P4.
We have been very busy in P3 this week!
We have started our enterprise topic and have transformed into little elves to make lots of goodies to sell at this years Nativity. Â We have been working out profits and costing goods in our cooperative teams! Â We have also been learning about money in maths and are getting good at recognizing and adding up coins. Â We will be continuing this for the next few weeks, which gives parents and carers a great opportunity to develop this at home by playing games with coins of looking at costs of goods in the supermarket etc.
In science we have been busy learning about magnetism. Â The children amazed me with how quickly they developed their understanding of the scientific vocabulary we looked at. Â We talked about the push and pull forces, North and South poles, attraction and repulsion and metals that attract magnets and those that don’t. Â The children had great fun exploring the magnets and using them to push other magnets across the table and making them spin around. Â Watch out to see how this projects develops!
Our class Dojo is a great success, if you have not already logged on, have a look and talk to your children about all the wonderful things that they have been doing to earn their points!

There was an explorer who came in with a dog called Haggis and they are walking up to the top of Scotland into the mountains to train to go to Antarctica to raise money for animal rescue charities. Â Jaime
We also had the Scottish SPCA come in to teach us about how farms treat their animals and about animal cruelty. At the end we played a game which was great fun! Euan
We had a two minute silence on Wednesday to remember everyone who fought for our country. Katie
We learnt about growth and fixed mindsets. A growth mindset is when you try to improve and don’t give up. A fixed mindset is when you give up easily or think you are the best that you can be. We watched a funny video on Ormie the Pig who had a growth mindset. Watch this on You Tube at home! Nikita
Well done to P1b today who have worked hard all week on their good manners. Â The school nurse even commented on how polite we were when she came in to see us! Â This good work was rewarded at assembly this morning when we were awarded the Goblet of Good Manners trophy. Â Well done boys and girls, keep up the good work!
We started our new Christmas Enterprise topic this week. We voted on which products we would like to make and chose a name for our workshop.
We went outside for P.E with P2/3 and had a great time practising our jumping and balancing skills.
A lady from the SSPCA spoke to us about animals and let us try on some safety clothes. We got to test the equipment that is used to help rescue animals.

Sarah: ‘I liked when the lady got the puppet out and Cole used the equipment to catch the badger puppet’.
Matthew: ‘ I liked when the lady was talking about different kinds of snakes’.

Daniel T: ‘I learned how to paint a cherry blossom tree’.

Yet another busy week in Primary one.
In literacy, we have been working hard to blend our sounds together to make words as well as reading and writing our tricky words.
In maths, we have been consolidating our addition work, beginning our subtraction work and practising counting, writing and ordering the numbers up to 20. We are getting really good at this!
 
We were also lucky enough to have a visit from the SSPCA this week and we enjoyed listening to the lady telling us all about her job and showing us the equipment that she uses to help the animals that are hurt. (Don’t worry, it’s only a pretend snake!).
We have also begun our toys topic and have been thinking about what we already know about toys and what we would like to find out.

Last week in the nursery some of us went to hide nuts in the woods for the squirrels. We didn’t want to make it too easy for them so we put them in lots of different hidings places.
We are looking forward to going back this week to see if they have found them. We think they will all be gone as we did notice a squirrel watching us!

We had lots of fun in class this week. At the beginning of the week we had mindset workshops.
This week we have been revising 2d shape and went on a 2d shape hunt around the playground.

We carried out the experiment which proved our predictions to be correct. The whole class had lots of fun and I heard words such as ‘awesome’, ‘cool’, ‘fun’ and ‘amazing’ to describe their feelings about the experiment.

I’m delighted to say we had a draw in class this week. Both boys had a fantastic total of 26 points.
This week has been another very busy week in P1b. All of the children have been working very hard on their number formation and on counting and adding numbers togther. We have been using a variety of resources to help us with our adding and we are really impressing Mrs Lloyd.
We have also been learning about 3D shapes this week. We went on a shape hunt around the school with our parent helper Miss Graham and we managed to find lots of 3D shapes. It was really good fun! Have a look at our pictures and see what shapes you can spot!
