What a super day and what a quick year! Today we have had time playing both indoors and outside in the nature garden…what a beautiful day for the last day of term! We really enjoyed signing all the P7 cards and wishing them well as they leave us. Some pupils spent the morning writing them notes…they’ll be such a miss! After lunch we headed outside to watch the P7’s V Teachers Rounders match at the pitch. Then it was back inside to say farewell to Mrs Hay and to celebrate her time with us with poems and music…and an ice lolly! Thank you all for your support over the year from me, Mrs Tait and Mrs Henderson. You’ve all be super to work with and we’ve enjoyed spending the year with your children. Have a super holiday and see you all back on the 22nd August.
We hope you have all received your invitation for our learner led event which will take place next Tuesday evening between 6pm and 8pm. The children are keen to show you around the class and share what they have been working on. Look out for their pupil self evaluation sheets which has a section for you, their parent/carer, to comment on too. We look forward to seeing you!
Today we said a HUGE thank you to Mrs Casey for all her help. We will miss her very much! P1/2 wish Mrs Casey all the very best in her new job. We made her a beautiful card and wrote special messages inside.
What a beautiful afternoon for our beach clean! It was a big task again this year and today, we just concentrated on picking up as much plastic as we could find. P1/2 worked hard and did a super job! Thank you to the parents who joined in too. Many hands make light work!
What a lovely last day of term. In the morning we finished off any work that needed to be done and enjoyed task time. We worked hard in Music and enjoyed using the boom whackers to make music. The afternoon saw us hunting for our Easter baskets…much excitement!!! 😄 Then we listened to music and watched a superb drama sketch at our Spring Concert. Well done to Leah for her sweet harp playing!
Mrs Smith our P.E. teacher has been talking to the class about her little niece who has Down’s Syndrome and telling us all about her qualities and what it means to have Down’s Syndrome. To help raise awareness, Mrs Smith asked staff and pupils if they would help celebrate the day by wearing odd socks! P1/2 took up the challenge! Here is a photo of their wonderful array of multi-coloured and mismatched socks!
What a super day! Beautiful day for our procession and galley burning, happy and enthusiastic bairns, a great school squad ably led by Michaela and a super SMUHA Jarl Squad. Not too many photos to share…we just soaked up the atmosphere and enjoyed the day!!
We enjoyed celebrating World Book Day today and were delighted that Mrs Fiona Henderson could be with us to celebrate too! Our day started in the Library where we got to change our books. Then we looked at all the tatties, fruits and stones that pupils decorated as their favourite story characters. The winners are yet to be announced! We had a special Assembly where we did a quiz and were handed out our £1 book tokens. Mrs Henderson read us a story but didn’t tell us the title or show us the cover. We went back to class to draw and write down our own ideas. We all enjoyed celebrating the joy of reading!
Well done to Kate and Arthur who had their galley shield designs picked out by Mr. Ian Bray, the 2018 South Mainland Jarl. They will help to make up their shields ready to decorate our school galley. Watch this space to see the end results!
