There was a lot of excitement in P1/2 on Tuesday when we discovered that Alexander was a runner up in the Name a Gritter competition, which was open to all schools throughout Shetland. He entered the name Snow Boss and joined 5 winners and 4 other runners up from around Shetland at a presentation at Nesting Primary on Monday afternoon.
Look at all of the things he won! He also won a sledge, but it was a little too big to bring into school!
As part of Health and Wellbeing, we have introduced our “Worries and Wonders” bag. This can be used by the children to send myself and Mrs Henderson notes to tell us about their achievements and things they are proud of. These are then shared with the class and celebrated! The bag can also be used to tell us about any worries they may have. These will be spoken about privately and we’ll try to help with any problems. The bag has already been used for both purposes, which is great! Please feel free to encourage your child to use this at school.
We love hearing about your projects from home. Arthur is very keen on learning about the Titanic and knows lots of facts already. He brought in this superb model ship to show the class and shared what he knew about the vessel and how it sank.
We hope you have all received your invitation for our learner led event which will take place next Tuesday evening between 6pm and 8pm. The children are keen to show you around the class and share what they have been working on. Look out for their pupil self evaluation sheets which has a section for you, their parent/carer, to comment on too. We look forward to seeing you!
Today we have been looking back at the goals we set at the beginning of the year. It was good fun to look back at our writing and drawings – especially for P1. Such a lot has changed over the course of the year and it’s so encouraging to see the growth of all the pupils. We’ve been updating our progress – thinking about whether we’ve achieved our goals, how we did it and what we still need to work on to get us there. Look out for this being sent home over the next few days. Well done P1/2!
