We have been really lucky to get Joy in for drumming on the last day of term. It was great fun! Have a look at our photos, it was AWESOME!

Scottish Chamber Orchestra
Today Primary1/2 saw the Scottish Chamber Orchestra’s performance with a story about Stanley and Mabel. Stanley is a dog and Mabel is a cat who go to Italy in search of the best orchestra in the world. It turns out that the best orchestra in the world is made up of animals.
Primary1/2 really enjoyed the performance and at various points through the concert clapped their hands or stamped their feet in time to the music.
The Scarecrows’ Wedding
Betty o Barley and Harry o Hay are getting married. Betty wanted a dress of white feathers but this week there a problem, there were no feathers to make her dress and she couldn’t get a dress like that! Primary 1/2 decided to help her by designing some dresses. Here they are, I wonder which one she would choose?

Tiddler
Tiddler is a lovely story about a fish. Primary 1/2 enjoyed it, getting into the read and respond mood with parts of it. They even linked it to other things. Through discussion in the book Primary 1/2 thought they could help Miss Skate teach the Tiddler and the class about different types of boats to watch out for. They worked in pairs to draw different types of boats. They are pretty cool, please take a look.

Taking care of pets
After reading Tabby McTat the class decided to see what he would need to help look after him. Here were the essentials they thought he needed. That old checked hat seems to be very important!

Soft start with emerging literacy task
We start the day with what we call a soft start activity. This ties in with emerging literacy and this time we are building towers with Lego. We have a fun activity to start and it helps with our motor skills.
Mrs Inkster times us to see how big our tower with the first go, then we timed again to see if it can be taller on the next turn. We love it and are always amazed how the tower grows!

We all need some down time
By the end of the week we are exhausted! When this happens it is good to have some down time and just have free choice. Mrs Wells let that happen on Friday, take a look.

Active maths
Part of maths each day is learning through activities or active maths. This can done in many ways. We are currently learning number at the moment in Primary 1/2. Primary 2 are making a number line to hop along to help with their maths. Primary 1 are making numbers 1 and 2 with Playdoh. Then they were making one or two things to go with the number, some of these things were in the book Tiddler by Julia Donaldson.

Tabby McTat
Poor Fred turns poorly in this story so P1/2 decided to design some Get Well Soon cards to help cheer him up. I think you will agree that these would certainly cheer him up.

Ssssssss craft
The good thing about phonics is that we get a craft activity to do when we are learning sounds. These help our cutting skills and we have been busy this morning. Have a look.
