Primary 2 have been finding out all about nouns. They have been taught the Jolly Phonics actions to help them remember proper nouns and common nouns and have been learning that proper nouns need to be written using capital letters. They got busy taking photos of nouns they could see all around and have been writing labels to be displayed beside them.
Galley Shield Winners
Well done to Kate and Arthur who had their galley shield designs picked out by Mr. Ian Bray, the 2018 South Mainland Jarl. They will help to make up their shields ready to decorate our school galley. Watch this space to see the end results!
Last day of term!
We have made it to the last day of term! Today we have enjoyed listening to Christmas stories in the Library and have caught up on Topic work that was delayed due to our days off with Storm Caroline. We have enjoyed playing Jingle Bells on instruments in Music time and listened to the older pupils perform for us in the afternoon. Sadly, lots of pupils have been absent today so were not here to receive their gifts, cards and decorations. They will be waiting for you in the new term.
We would like to take the chance to wish all the children and their families, a merry Christmas and a happy new year!!🎅🏻
Christmas Lunch
Three cheers for our cooks, for crackers and for friends to enjoy our meal with! HIP HIP…
Christmas Jumper Day!
P1/2 look fabulous today in their Christmas jumpers! Thank you for your kind donations once again!
The First Minister’s Reading Challenge
Well done to Alexander who has completed his First Minister’s Reading Passport booklet. He has read lots of story books and factual books. He has drawn his favourite parts and has written about what he has learned. He has also recommended stories for his friends. 😀
Dress Rehearsal Day!
The excitement is mounting! We have had our dress rehearsal and just have a few final adjustments to make to our toy puppet costumes. Can you tell what we are? We hope you are looking forward to the show!

Advent
P1/2 were excited to prepare for advent by helping to create our Kindness Wreath. Each day, we read out a different act of kindness that it is hoped they will try to carry out at school. Please see your child’s diary for suggested acts of kindness that they could do at home during the weekends too! As well as our class wreath, each child received a note home asking them to contribute to our Food Bank on a given day. We are very grateful to you for supporting us with this.
Our Senses – Touch
We have been learning about the 5 senses. With me, they have been looking at our sense of touch. We measured how far our skin would stretch if you laid it out flat. The children were fascinated to see how big an area it would cover! We have been naming parts of our hands and skin and looking closely using magnifying glasses. We have talked about the “receptors ” under our skin that send messages to our brains to help us make sense of what we are touching. Very carefully, we tried using paper clips to help us feel which parts of our bodies were more sensitive to touch. We have tried using just our sense of touch to name hidden objects.
Childsmile Visit
Today we had Shona in from the Childsmile team to help us with our brushing. She said that all the children were brushing really well and that we are to keep up the good work at home and school. Her team will be back to apply fluoride varnish to those who have given consent, on the 7th of December.
