As part of their Health & Wellbeing programme and to stay fit and healthy P6s have been running around the playground for five minutes twice a week.
P7 had a visit today from Michael Coutts from Dogs against Drugs. He talked to us about the training required for the dogs and we then got the chance to meet some of them! The dogs were very excited!
As part of our sea themed activities we went for a trip on the Bressay Ferry on Thursday. The usual ferry is away for a refit just now so we got to go on the Fivla.
The steps down to the passenger lounge was very steep and it was very noisy. Some of the children thought the visor looked like a shark’s mouth!
We had a lovely time!
On Friday, we had some Fish and Chips for our lunch. This was kindly donated by the Fort Chippy and was enjoyed by all. A massive thank you to them.
ASN Department Sea Themed activities 5th-16th June
As part of our sea themed activities we visited the Sands of Sound beach.
We looked for the things in the pictures below and we tried feeling and touching the sand. We also made sandcastles!
Mrs Cheyney’s husband, Aiden, very kindly made a mud kitchen for the Bell’s Brae ASN department. We have been enjoying being outdoors in the fine weather and playing with the pots and pans in the kitchen.
We are very grateful to Mr Cheyney for his generous donation!
You may recall that back in December Bell’s Brae was successful in securing £12,000 from Tesco through their Bags for Life initiative. The majority of our grant will go towards building a shelter in the patio area with the remainder being used for other playground improvements.
The shelter is due to be erected this year and plans are being finalised at the moment.
Please find below a draft plan of what we hope the finished shelter will look like. It will provide a great area for the children to play at breaktimes and will also provide an outdoor classroom for all classes to use.
