We have been studying Charles Rennie Mackintosh high backed chair designs. You can still sit on his chairs in the Willow Tea Rooms in Glasgow. We learned about perspective when we made our chairs look 3D.

What do we think we already know?
The Sun is boiling hot. It has lava or something in it and gas.
The Sun is made of gas and fire.
Day and night are the same length of hours.
There are 12 months in a year.
The Moon is a giant lump of rock.
The Moon has bumps called craters.
The stars, Sun and Moon are powerful.
There are 7 days in a week.
Autumn is a warning about Winter and we harvest all our food.
Creative cards
Today we had fun making our Christmas cards and listening to Christmas tunes as we worked. There were some very creative Christmas jumpers!
Teddy bear adventure
We had an amazing trip to Dawyck gardens and our teddy bears got up to mischief in the yurt with Edward Bear when we were learning about SWAF.
SWAF is what animals need to survive. Shelter, Water,Air and Food.
Here we are making little islands that have SWAF and everything that animals need to survive.
If you go down to the woods today….
P2 and P3 received a very exciting letter.
It was from Edward Bear and he was inviting us to join him at Dawyck Gardens on Tuesday 1st October.
It sounds like we’re going to have great fun and we can bring our teddy bears along to join in the fun too!
Measuring
We took our measuring outdoors and here we are measuring with our feet. ( Non standard units )
As you can see in the picture we all have different sizes of feet so we would come up with different answers.
Next week we need to use centimetres and metres so that we all get the same answer. ( Standard units )
The Chocolate room maps part 2
Our chocolate room maps were too small for the cardboard Beebots. We couldn’t change the size of the Beebot so, we worked out that we had to make bigger maps.
This session has helped us to learn our Left and Right.
The Chocolate Rooms map
As part of Roald Dahl Day we made up our own designs for The Chocolate Room. We made lots of twisty-turny tunnels and it was fun drawing the maps in 2D.
I like the sound of the Sweet Sea and the Lollipop Trap rooms. This would be a very exciting map to follow.
The challenge now is to Program the Beebots to follow your map.
