S1 Parents’ Welcome Evening

There is a welcome evening for S1 parents on Thursday 8 November from 6.30pm until 8.30pm.  Parents will be able to visit classrooms with their children and speak to teachers and pupils about what their children have been learning.  Pupils representing the various clubs and committees in the school will be in the social area.  We look forward to welcoming you to Chryston High School.

S1 Interdisciplinary Event

PICNIC IN THE PARK 2018

This Friday 28th of September sees all of our S1 pupils head to Drumpelier Country Park to participate in our annual interdisciplinary event Picnic in the Park.

  • ALL EV5 PERMISSION SLIPS NEED TO BE RETURNED TO THE PE DEPT TO ATTEND
  • PLEASE COME PREPARED FOR WET WEATHER
  • PLEASE ENSURE SUITABLE FOOTWEAR IS WORN FOR COUNTRY PARK TERRAIN
  • PLEASE COME PREPARED FOR CLASSES IN SCHOOL IN THE AFTERNOON
  • WE WILL BE RETURNING DURING LUNCHTIME SO A PACKED LUNCH AND ADDITIONAL WATER IS ADVISED

Pupils have been working in PE lessons to develop their cardio respiratory endurance, navigate between controls on a map and judge their running pace between controls. In Home Economics the S1’s have been learning how to fuel their bodies  before sport and replenish energy stores after the competition. Each pupil has prepared food for themselves to eat before and after the event. In Geography, the pupils have been learning how to read a map and use the features of the map to get to the controls in the safest and fastest route.

All of our S1’s are excited to compete in one of our 3 challenging courses. Photos will be published after the event. However, you can follow some of the action on the day via the PE Dept twitter feed at @chrystonpe

Sanitary Products

North Lanarkshire Council has made sanitary products available to all pupils in North Lanarkshire schools.  For the Council, the provision of sanitary products programme has two aims. The first is to tackle a poverty-related injustice in a non-stigmatising manner; the second is to confront taboos that surround the issue of periods.

Sanitary products are freely available to all pupils in Chryston High School.  They are in toilets in “help yourself” baskets.

Attendance Information

Reporting an absence

If your child is absent at the start of the day, you will receive a text message.  You should reply to the text message stating a reason for the absence.  You are no longer required to send an absence note upon your child’s return.  You will receive a text each day of the absence.

Requesting permission for medical appointments or informing us of any other planned absence

You should send a text message stating the reason for and duration of the planned absence.  Again, you do not need to provide a letter upon your child’s return.  You will receive a text stating, “You can reply to this text to notify us of a planned absence.”  This is to ensure all parents have an open text to which they can reply.
