A message from the Head Teacher – 29 May 2020

Dear Parent/Carer

I hope that you and your loved ones continue to be safe and healthy. I also hope that, where possible, your child is able to engage in some home learning. I am sad to confirm that there will be no return to school for pupils until after the summer holidays and it is vital, therefore, that we as a school community try to support your child with home learning as much as possible.  New S2 and S3 pupils should be continuing with their learning and new S4, S5 and S6 students should have started to work on their chosen subjects. While this should not be the same as a school day and it will not be possible for pupils to complete the same amount of work as they would in school, it is important that all pupils are able to engage in learning activities – please contact your child’s Pastoral Care teacher if this is causing you and your family difficulty.

S4 – Mr Blaney HBlaney@lourdes-sec.glasgow.sch.uk

Teachers will be returning to school throughout June to plan for both continued home learning and a safe return for pupils after the summer. Pupil safety will always be our highest priority and we will issue details for this when complete to allow parents/carers to examine our planning. At present it is likely that all pupils will have to have a blended education from August with some time in school and some time at home. We are aware that this will continue to present problems and will work with parents/carers to overcome any difficulties. Education Authorities are looking at the issue of child care for pupils who are at home but parents are working and I will let you know of plans for this as soon as possible.

Mrs Cairns begins her maternity leave on Monday. I’m sure you will join with us in wishing her a safe and healthy maternity leave and we hope that she can get some time to relax before the baby is born!

Mr Kerr will continue to look after the new S2 until we find a suitable replacement for Mrs Cairns and you should contact him directly if you have any queries.

God bless and keep safe

Mr McGuigan
