ASPIRING ENGINEERS S4-S6

4.00 pm, Wednesday, 6th November 2013

Any pupil in S4-S6 who is interested in pursuing a career in Engineering and would like to attend a prestigious lecture by renowned Professor of Engineering, Ed McCann should speak to Mr Urquhart in Pastoral Care at interval or lunchtime today. Attendance at this event will be advantageous to those applying to University degree courses in Engineering this year or in the future.

GHA Bursaries -£1500 per year for HNC/HND/Degree level courses

Glasgow Housing Association awards bursaries of up to £1500 per year to pupils who are applying for college/university courses. Last year, several pupils from Lourdes were successful in securing this financial support. Pupils must meet the following criteria:

Courses applied for must be HNC/HND or degree level

Pupils must reside in a Glasgow Housing Association property.

There is also a £500 education grant available for leavers who have NC/NQ places.

Any pupil who thinks that he/she may qualify for the bursary or the education grant should approach his/her Pastoral Care teacher in the first instance or speak to Mr Urquhart

S5/S6 Leavers – Modern Apprenticeship

Barrhead Travel – Office Junior/Admin Assistant x2

Barrhead Travel is looking for two office juniors/admin assistants to work within their Admin Department and support staff with their day to day duties. The employer is looking for someone with good IT and admin skills as well as a good telephone manner. The successful candidate could also be put through a Modern Apprenticeship in Business Administration.

Interested candidates should be:
Eager to learn
Have a positive attitude
Good work ethic and integrity
The ability to work well as part of a team
Computer literacy and good typing skills
A good level of English grammar
Accuracy and attention to detail

Careers Appointments

The Careers Advisor, Mrs Dunlop will be in school on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Careers appointments will now be displayed on the UCAS notice board outside the Head Teacher’s office and on the notice board outside the Careers Library. Pupils should check these noticeboards on Monday for appointments. Please note Mrs Dunlop may have arranged an appointment for you even if you have not requested one so it is essential you consult these noticeboards regularly.
