National 4 and 5 Physical Education

  • Pupils will learn to improve the 4 factors (mental, emotional, social and physical) through various approaches after gathering data on their own performances
  • This course does not have an external examination
  • The pupils complete a Portfolio which is worth 50% of your overall mark
  • Performance also makes up 50% of your overall mark and will be on 2 activities
  • This course is highly recommended if a pupil would like to choose Higher PE in S5/6

Higher Physical Education

  • Pupils will learn to improve the 4 factors (mental, emotional, social and physical) through various approaches after gathering data on their own performances
  • Pupils required to have National 5 PE, and preferably National 5 English
  • SQA course with a written examination worth 50% of your overall mark
  • A further 50% is currently internally marked, with each pupil being practically assessed on 2 different sporting activities

Advanced Higher Physical Education

  • Pupils will have the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the cycle of analysis in an activity of their choice and one of the 4 factors (mental, emotional, social and physical)
  • As well as being supported through the course, candidates will have to demonstrate the ability to work, study and research independently
  • Pupils required to have Higher PE, and preferably Higher English
  • SQA course involving a 5,000 word project worth 70% of your overall mark
  • A further 30% is currently internally marked, with each pupil being practically assessed on one sporting activity

Sport & Recreation

  • Provides a basis for progression into further education and training/employment in the sports and recreation sector
  • Provides SCQF level 4 and 5 award
  • Will enable pupils to develop the general and practical skills, knowledge and understanding and employability skills and attitudes needed in the sector
  • Pupils will work under supervision in an appropriate sport and recreation environment, but will be expected to become actively involved with customers and operational staff
  • 4 units of work which will be internally assessed
  • Largely practical course but with some classroom and theory based learning

 

Advanced Higher SFA Refereeing

  • This award is designed to equip individuals with knowledge and understanding of Scottish FA Refereeing, concentrating on knowledge and understanding of the Laws of the Game of football
  • Pupils will have to learn the Laws of the Game and take part in Practical Refereeing
  • 2 units of work which will be internally assessed
  • SCQF credits awarded through course
  • One recorded online multiple choice assessment
  • Minimum of 5 hours of practical sessions
