UCAS Notices

1.GLASGOW UNIVERSITY TOP UP PROGRAMME

Any UCAS applicant who would like to take part in Glasgow University’s Top Up programme should give his or her name to Mr Urquhart asap.

2.PERSONAL STATEMENT DROP IN 8

WEDNESDAY 09th OCTOBER- 11.00-15.00

Mrs Currie will be in Lourdes from 11.00-3pm on Wednesday 9th October to provide advice and guidance with the drafting of Personal Statements. If you would like to see Mrs Currie, please sign up on the UCAS noticeboard.

3. DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS TO MED/DENT/VET/OXF/CAMB – TUESDAY 15TH OCTOBER

UCAS candidates applying for courses in Medicine, Dentistry, Vet Medicine or to Oxfordor Cambridge must have submitted their final applications along with academic reference to UCAS by Tuesday 15th October. See Mr Urquhart immediately if there are any difficulties.

4. FINAL DRAFT PERSONAL STATEMENT DUE MONDAY 21st OCTOBER

Final drafts of Personal Statements should be submitted to Pastoral Care staff by Monday 21st October. Please see your pastoral care teacher if you anticipate any difficulty meeting this deadline.

Male Vocal Group

The B sharps (Lourdes’ male vocal group) started on Wednesday 18th September at lunchtime in Mr Weaver’s Room (126). The 20 members (so far) have decided the group name and are in the process of choosing the songs that the group will sing (within reason!) Boys from every year group are welcome to join us. Passes will be available from the music base on Tuesday or Wednesday at interval.

Lourdes Soul Band

Soul Band is starting up again on Wednesday 4th of September and we are looking for all singers and instrumentalists who might be interested to come a long and sign up!! Rehearsals are in Mrs Simpson’s classroom in the music corridor (room 126) and run from 3pm till about 3.45pm each week. Soul Band have previously performed at the fun day, school awards ceremonies, the Christmas Concert and even auditioned for the Southside Festival a few years ago. Come along and see if you like it. Can’t wait to see you there.

Lourdes Games Club

The Lourdes Computer Games Club is starting again at lunchtime Monday 9 September. If you are interesting in joining us to play a wide selection of new and retro games on a variety of consoles, please come along to a short meeting in Mrs Connelly’s room 231 at 1pm on Monday 2 September to find out more. Justice and Peace Group

The Justice and Peace Group will meet on Mondays at 12.55pm in Room 137, starting 2nd September.

A Justice and Peace group encourages study and reflection and promotes action in 5 broad areas. These are International Peace, Social Justice, Concern for the Environment, World Development and Human Rights.

New S5/6 members are welcome and if you are considering joining the group but cannot manage to the first meeting, please give your name to Mr Durkan or Mr Raeburn.
