We were delighted to welcome all representatives to the first Pupil Council meeting of the session 2012-2013. Lots of healthy discussion took place and Office Bearers collated the views and beliefs of pupils surrounding the Schools’ Vision, Values and Aims.

Art/Photography Exhibitions- S5/6
For all S5/6 pupils studying either higher Art or Photography or those in S5/6 who have an interest in art-
Mr Sheridan will be taking a group to exhibitions after school every second week. This is a great way for you to see parts of the city and places you may never have seen before and enjoy the cultural side of one of the most important cities for contemporary art in Europe.
If you are interested in coming along, come to room 301 at 12:35 on Monday 8/10/12 for an initial meeting and info about the first show

S5 Mentoring Programme
Any pupil in S5 undertaking 3 or more Highers this year is advised to sign up for the Mentoring Programme asap. This is an excellent opportunity for students to receive structured, personalised support and guidance from subject specialists throughout the academic year. Mentors will help pupils to manage their workload, develop effective approaches to study, review progress and set targets to raise attainment. Please sign up on the sheets displayed on the UCAS Noticeboard outside the Headteacher’s office.

S1 Welcome & Commitment Mass
The S1 Welcome and Commitment Mass was held in the school’s Concert hall on Wednesday 3 October 2012. S1 pupils were joined in the celebration of the Mass by staff, parents and a number of Headteachers from our partner primary schools including St Constantine’s’ Primary, St Saviour’s Primary and St Marnock’s Primary.
In the course of the Mass S1 pupils committed themselves to the following:

Are you the next Rihanna, Tinie Tempah or One Direction? If so get along to G-Stars! G-Stars is a FREE weeklong “X Factor” style contest for young people aged 12 – 18 who live in the South side of Glasgow (or go to school there).

G-Stars takes place on Monday 15th till Friday 19th of October from 10am-4pm in Lourdes Secondary until our Grand Finale weekend on 20th October in the 02 Academy.
Established acts welcome but priority given to those with little or no experience.
If you applied before, you can apply again!
Your application must be authorised by a parent or guardian and be handed back to Glasgow Life staff by 5th of October at the latest.
If you are interested please see Mrs Ross for an application form. The G-Sstars team will be in school at lunchtime on Wednesday in the dining hall to answer any questions you have.
Let’s Grow 2012!
Once again, Lourdes Secondary is collecting Let’s Grow gardening vouchers from Morrison’s Supermarkets. These have been used to buy a wide range of gardening equipment along with some packs of flower and vegetable seeds.
We plan to use the Quadrangle to plant more and are looking for staff, pupils, family and friends to collect and hand in as many vouchers as possible.
Please hand in any vouchers to Mr Raeburn or Miss Jamieson before the 28th of October.
