FAoL Sensory Art Materials

The boys and girls in the Pine class have been exploring  a variety  of materials and resources commonly used in the art room. These were used as part of our sensory art lesson.

We listened to music and enjoyed guessing the scents of the play doh. The children were all given the opportunity to feel and independently manipulate materials such as  fluffy fur, crinkly paper, shiny card, tickly brushes, cold cubes, wet sponges…

Super successful learners in the Pine class. Well done everyone!

FAOL – ECO

We have all been using our class recycle bin. We made a sign for our bin so we knew where to put our bottles and paper. We all have the opportunity to take our recycle bin to the big recycle bins in the corridor. We helped and put the paper in one bin and the plastic in another.  Most of enjoyed having a peer into the bin to see what else was inside.

October Holiday Countdown

The Stars Class have enjoyed a fantastic week where we saw not only Harris McCoo but Singing Hands too. What a treat! We’ve worked hard too and made an Autumn sensory bottle, added to our Nanny McPhee wall display and made yucky ‘worm’ sandwiches at HE which actually were very tasty!

What’s it all about?

The Transition boys were Successful Learners when they worked hard on their literacy skills. They picked a book which they thought would be enjoyable and told Mr Nicoll all about the main theme from text and picture clues. Good book detective work boys!

This week in Transition, the boys have been hard at work to create a McCoo portrait in time for Thursday when we had a visit from Harris McCoo himself.

Harris McCoo and Singing Hands

We are so lucky at Willowbank School. This week we had special visitors visit our school. On Thursday Harris McCoo visited us in the morning. We all went to the hall to see him dance on the stage with Steven Brown and his friends. Miss Hill and some of the older pupils were at the front too as they had been learning the signs to his special song. We also joined in with some of the signs too.

Today Suzanne and Tracy “Singing Hands” came to Willowbank School. It was amazing. We did lots of singing, signing and dancing.

The Bluebells have had a fun filled few days that has included meeting some famous faces! The pupils have been working hard to learn Makaton signs  for  Steven Brown’s McCoo Song and they were practicing their signs for Happy performed by The Singing Hands.

The boys in the Bluebells demonstrated their successful learning by performing with the whole school, Steven Brown and Harris McCoo. They loved watching The Singing Hands and singing and signing along to some of their favourite songs. They were very confident when asked to stand up and perform.
