Rainbow Relay🌈

Hello!! Pinettes – How are you all?

Well today should have been Sports Day at Willowbank, but we hope you are all going to take part in some of the different activities at home.

Collect 7 different coloured items from around your house and then place them around your garden or house  – get into teams – first team – start the clock – collect all the items and put them into rainbow order – what was your time?? Now second team – who was quickest???

Can you do it again and beat your time?

Well what have the Pine Ladies been up to in the sunshine??

Boyle has been doing lots of exercise in her garden – Mr Boyle is getting very good at taking action shots!!

Aitken has out and about and found a big but very pretty plant – name that plant??

Jardine has been helping to build a greenhouse – wonder what she will grow??

Wilson has been doing some planting and getting out on her bike – what do you think she prefers??

Gardening 🌻

Well hopefully the Postman or Post lady has been and delivered you some Sunflower seeds – it would be great if you could plant them and hopefully over the summer the will grow nice and tall.

Just something cute!

Cookery – it’s too hot lets make ice lollies!!🍭

Ice Lollies

If you don’t have lolly stick or moulds you can make them up in small plastic cups and add a plastic straw OR put your mixture into ice cube trays.

What has Willow Bear been up to? 🐻

Well Hello Pine Class – hope you are all enjoying the sunshine!

Well Heather has been on Night Shift and I haven’t  been too happy about that, because I want to go outside and enjoy the sunshine and she wants to sleep! So I  keep trying to wake her up, firstly by poking her, this seems to make her quite annoyed!!  Then I did a bit of really loud singing – she didn’t seem to enjoy this either??  So she has shut me in the other room,  and told me to practice my keyboard skills, as I have a duet to prepare for with a certain young lady in the Pine Class.

Stars Activities 7

Hi everyone. Hope you are all enjoying the good weather.  🌞🕶

Tuesday 2nd June should have been our Sports Day. Willowbank staff have been very busy filming and taking photographs of races you could try. The Stars class ladies had a ‘dressing up’ race. Hope you enjoy it!

This week we thought we could have our own wee sports day at home with a few races and a picnic. It would be nice to make some butterfly cakes for your picnic but if you can’t get the ingredients why not make some sandwiches instead. You could cut them into fancy shapes.

100g butter, softened

100g caster sugar

2 large eggs

100g self raising flour

1 level teaspoon

baking powder

ICING – 175g butter, softened

350g sifted icing sugar, plus extra for dusting

  • Preheat oven to 200 degrees C/ Fan 180 degrees C/ Gas 6. Place fairy cake cases into a 12 hole bun tin so that the cakes keep a good even shape as they bake.
  • Measure all the cake ingredients into a large bowl and beat well for 2-3 minutes until the mixture is well blended and smooth. Fill each paper case with the mixture.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the cakes are well risen and golden brown. Lift the paper cases out of the bun tin and cool the cakes on a wire rack.
  • To make the icing, beat the butter and icing sugar together until well blended. Cut a slice from the top of each cake and cut this slice in half. Spoon a heaped teaspoon of butter cream into the centre of each cake and place the half slices of cake on top to resemble butterfly wings. Dust the cakes with icing sugar to finish.

**  Don’t worry if you can’t find any icing sugar in the shops to make buttercream icing. A spoonful of jam or lemon curd in the centre will work just as well.

If you don’t see any races/activities you want to do on the Willowbank video then maybe you could consider welly throwing (who throws their welly nearest to the target – the target could be a teatowel), water race (fill a basin with water, scoop up a cup of water at a time and run with it over to an empty bowl. Who can collect the most amount of water in 1 minute), ball/balloon catch (how many times can you catch a balloon or ball in 1 minute) or fill the bucket (transfer small objects from one bucket to another. First finished is the winner.) I’m sure someone from your family could help you with your races.

Sit on a rug in the garden, if you can, and enjoy your butterfly cakes and some juice with your family or you could sit at a picnic table. Maybe use a colourful tablecloth. Listen for the birds. Mrs Gardner has blackbirds nesting in her garden and they are very chirpy!

Enjoy listening to this story on You Tube. Try and do all the actions and say the sounds if you can. Enjoy!

If you have fun doing some of these activities then send us a comment or a photo. We’d love to hear from you.

Have Fun! Stay Safe!   😊 ❤

Yoga : Animal postures

Hi Everyone.                                                                                           I hope you are well and staying safe. This sunshine is wonderful and I hope that you have managed to find time to go outside and enjoy this lovely weather.

This week As it is rather warm at the moment I have chosen a yoga activity for you try.
Yoga can be done inside or outside depending on how you are feeling.

The postures are all related to animals so if you have a family pet please have A look at how your dog or cat moves about. This will help you to understand why the  yoga postures are named after animals.

Please have a look at the  YouTube link above and enjoy trying Yoga at home.

Monday the 1st of June

Hello everybody,

I hope you enjoyed the lovely weather over the weekend. The Transition team enjoyed the weather in their gardens and there were a few BBQs. If we had been at school we would have taken part in Sports Day this week. Keep your eyes peeled for a whole school sports day video on the blog this week.

Comets- 01/06/20

Hi Comets

I hope we have all been enjoying the lovely weather over the last week! 🙂

Sports Day

This week would have been our sports days. There were lots of fun races planned but luckily you can still join in! Keep and eye on the blog this week for videos of all the staff taking part in lots of silly races.  You can cheer us on as you watch and then join in. Can you beat us?

I know how good the comet class are at using their makaton signs, but I want you to keep practicing! Use the videos below to help you remember the signs for the days of the week.

Jungle Book Snack

All the hot weather makes me feel like I could be in the jungle from The Jungle Book! Can you help to make a fruity jungle snack and try some new food. Cut up lots of tasty fruit like bananas, oranges, apples, kiwis and much more! You can use whatever you like.  Put in all in a big bowl and enjoy just like King Louis 🙂 I like to listen to the jungle book music while I eat mine as well.

Sports week and tasks

Hello Snowdrops , hope you have all enjoyed this fantastic weather and been sun safe . This week in school would have been sports day on Tuesday  . All the staff teams have made some race videos and will be shared tomorrow  for you all to watch and hopefully create some races at home .
As always we have some task for you to complete if you wish .
Activity 1 – size sequencing

This activity involves using household items and putting them in an order from smallest to biggest ,  use any items that you can think of . I have included some examples I used spoons , pot lids or could use the actual pots , towels , clothes eg t shirts for everyone in the house or shoes .

Activity 2 – floating and sinking

Some science next , we all love to play with water so let’s try and gather some items , anything at all . Fill a bucket, basin or if you have your paddling pool out can use it and drop the items in one at a time and see what floats and what sinks . If you have an orange try using it and see what happens if you drop it in the first time with the skin on , then get a grown up to help peel it and try again . Was there any difference ?

Activity 3 – Moon sand
Why don’t you have a go at making your own sand you only need three ingredients .

4 cups of flour

1/2 cup oil ( vegetable or baby oil )

food colouring ( optional )

Add the flour to a bowl and add a few drops of food colour if you wish .
Next pour in the oil to the middle of the bowl , you now need to mix it together so either use a spoon or get your hands in and squeeze it all together .
once mixed put it on a tray or container that you can use to play with it .
You can make shapes if you have cutters or like we do in school practice drawing letters or numbers in the sand with your finger .

We have been loving the photos of you all working so hard and enjoying time with your families. Keep up the good work everyone all the ladies are very proud of you all . 👍🏻
