BASE 3 VISIT GLASGOW SCIENCE CENTRE

On Friday Base 3 visited the Science Centre Glasgow as a part of our STEM Fortnight. We had a great day exploring the science mall and we very much enjoyed our viewing of ‘We Are Aliens’ at the planetarium.

Thank you to all the staff and helpers that attended.

P6/5 STEM fortnight

Here are a small selection of snaps from the many interesting and exciting activities we took part in over the last couple of weeks. We’ve learned so much!

Aircraft of the Future, Mr Burns–Flight, Maths Roadshow, Electric Vehicles.

Flying with STEM!

A huge thank you to Mr Wilson (Jack Wilson’s dad) who joined Base 3 yesterday to teach us about the STEM behind flying. His presentation included video footage of the important procedures before flight. It was also very nice to see Jack making an appearance in the clips.

It was very exciting to watch Jack and his dad take off into the sky. What a brilliant hobby to have. Base 3 now has some keen flying enthusiasts.

Thank you again, Mr Wilson!

STEM – P7 visit to Woodward Aircraft Engine Systems

Primary 7 enjoyed an excellent visit to Woodward as part of their STEM fortnight activities on Flight.

After an interesting talk on what the company does, the children broke into groups for a tour of the site. This was followed by a break for water and snacks they provided and 4 activities based on what they had seen and told about.

It really was a fantastic visit and huge thanks go to all the staff at Woodward for making us so welcome!

The final photo is Ben’s skin magnified x220! This tool is used when working with hairline cracks on an aircraft part.

Base 1 Trip to The Science Centre

What a good day we all had at the Science Centre. The children all enjoyed exploring and playing with all the activities. The Planetarium proved to be very popular with the children and they listened very well to find out new information about our solar system.
