Code Club

Our very first Code Club at Dalbeattie Primary started this session. Mrs Dyson and Mr Muirhead have been amazed with the digital programming skills that the first Code Clubbers have developed already. Code Clubbers have worked collaboratively in this after school club to create their own musical Rock Band, a Lost in Space animation and this week, they created their own Ghostbusters catching game.

Terrific Transformations in Primary 5

Our topics this term are ‘Meet our Team’ and the ‘Wonderful World of Roald Dahl’. We celebrated the 100th Anniversary of Roald Dahl’s birthday. Mrs Dyson was amazed at our Roald Dahl character transformations (remember to click on each photo to see the full size version). We are looking forward to sawing wood to make the photo frames for our Enterprise Project next.

P7 Transition

Primary 7 pupils have started some transition work with the Home Economics Department at Dalbeattie High school. Pupils have been attending the High School on a Tuesday afternoon in small groups along with peers from our cluster schools. The children have been working with Mrs Houston during these visits to make carrot cake muffins. During the visits, the children are also experiencing what it is like to be in a secondary class/school environment and the expectations of the Home Economics Department. Thank you to Mrs Houston for supporting us with this transition work. We are hoping to visit the department again later on in the school session.

ibike – Bikeability Training Session 2

Thursday 25th August saw the second group of children undertaking their Bikeability level 1 training with Katie from ibike. The children were very knowledgeable when checking their bikes at the start of session and demonstrated good skill levels and bike handling ability throughout the session.

Well done to all children who participated in both sessions and a huge thank you to Katie from ibike.
