On Friday 24th of February, Primary 3 held a Scottish bake sale. The pupils had been busy with Miss Kirkpartrick and Mrs Mazza creating treats to sell. The class raised £145.80 at their sale. This money will go towards a class trip later in the school session.

Consultation on Existing Primary School
Recently, pupils have been taking part in a consultation about possible future uses of our current school site. School Pupil Councillors collated the information from written questionnaire sheets, which were filled in by children of all ages though-out the school. The School Pupil Council then met with Michelle McRobert of Dalbeattie Community Initiative to discuss some of the issues in more detail. Lots of ideas were taken aware from the meeting……
CODE CLUB
Our Code Clubbers continue to develop their computer coding skills at our after-school club with Mrs Dyson and Mr Muirhead. We have five new members who are working on Module One. They have created their own Rock Band and their own Space Animation using the Scratch Coding program. Our more experienced Code Clubbers were introduced to the BBC Micro:bit today and they carried out several investigations using this pocket-sized computer. Mrs Dyson is awaiting the arrival of more Code Club Micro:bits and she is excited about using these in future challenges with our Code Clubbers. Well done everyone tonight for a super session! Eco Schools Fifth Green Flag!
Dalbeattie Primary is delighted to have been awarded its fifth green flag as part of the two year Eco Schools Scotland renewal scheme. The school eco group has been working closely with teacher Mrs Dyson, over the last two years , on topics such as litter, energy and school grounds. The school received a letter congratulating the pupils on their outstanding work; work on calculating the school’s carbon footprint and links with local community groups and organisations, such as Galloway Fisheries and Fairtrade, were specifically highlighted. The school is looking forward to continuing its eco work as it moves to a new school site In October 2017 when we will finally have a flag pole to display our fifth flag! We will also be able to compare the carbon foot print of the new building with the old one and investigate ways to encourage wildlife habitats as well as growing more of our own produce in new raised beds! Our photo shows current Schools Eco Committee together with the two committees of the previous two years who worked so hard towards the fifth flag.
Walk in the Woods
We had a beautiful, clear and frosty day for our walk to the woods on Thursday. We had fun playing hiding seek and really enjoyed climbing and exploring.
P7 Homefront Day 24.01.17
Primary 7C have had an absolutely fantastic day today with Dean from Homefront Histories.
We engaged in a huge variety of hands on learning, exploring WW2 artefacts and taking part in pretend air raids. We had the chance to dress up in real WW2 solider uniforms, we learned how to deal with an incendiary bomb and even got to hold some real (disarmed!!) WW2 guns.
Primary 7C would like to say a huge thank you to Dean for such a wonderful day. It is definitely one that we won’t forget!!
To P7C:
Thank you everyone for your lovely manners and excellent behaviour throughout the day. Dean was very impressed with you all. Miss C

P6 Christmas Party!
Christmas Service
Dalbeattie Primary School attended Church today for their end of term Christmas Service. The theme of the service was crackers. Each cracker contained an item that symbolised an aspect of the Christmas Story. Throughout the service there were readings and poems shared by P7 pupils. All children were a credit to themselves and the school. The church was filled with their wonderful singing. Thank you to Dalbeattie and Kirgunzeon Parish Church following allowing us to hold our service in church today and thank you to parents, family and friends who were able to join us for the service.
P7 Christmas Party
Last night Primary 7 had a blast at their last ever primary school Christmas party. We showed off our Scottish dancing skills and really wowed Mrs Duncan with how good we were. We played some party games then strutted our stuff in the dancing competition. We even had a short break and ate some delicious party food. Mrs Burn and Miss Clendinning were thrilled with how well behaved and well mannered everyone was.
A big thank you to Mrs Duncan and Mrs Stitt for buying and preparing all of the yummy food.
We had a great evening!!
