Today in assembly Mrs Duncan shared three songs that classes will be learning to sing for the end of term assembly in June. The songs are about friendships, journeys and summertime.

Awards were also given out today for a variety of reasons. P1/2 received a class award for their fantastic writing this week about the trip to the beach last week. P4/5 received a class award for Theo Tartan Tour performance with Feis Ros and P4 on Wednesday. Other reason for awards today include learning 2 times tables, being more organised and focused with learning, fantastic team work as part of an inventors challenge and  showing commitment and determination to achieving and improving learning. Great achievements everyone.👏👍

We also had some of our nursery children join us for assembly. They are getting ready for their transition to P1 and being part of assembly on a Friday is part of this process. Well done everyone.

Thank you all who turned up to take part in our voluntary beach clean at Rockcliffe today.  The event was organised by the Rotakids Club in partnership with the Eco Group.  Thank you Dalbeattie Community Initiative for helping supply the equipment and to Mr and Mrs Cathro, our Rotakids coordinators. It was lovely to see so many of our pupils and their families come along in addition to Mrs Duncan and Mrs Stores, HT of Colvend and Kirkgunzeon. We now have quite a large box of varied plastic waste which will form the inspirations for some creative work for our ‘Future Museum’ later this term.

Assembly report by Evie McGougan and Mrs Duncan

Today in assembly Mrs Duncan spoke to the children about the four capacities from Curriculum for Excellence. These are part of our vision values and aims and what we want all children to aspire to and achieve at Dalbeattie Primary School.

The children have been working very hard this week in a range of curricular areas. We have also seen that some of the children have demonstrated the school values this week and received awards for this . Other reasons for awards included great decoding skills, making sure  the presentation of work is high quality,  being a positive role model and high quality narrative writing. Mrs Gray also gave awards for great work in P.E this included care and control with a football, and showing brilliant  determination in golf.

Well done to all our achievers this week.

We had some light refreshments during our discussions which went down well.
