Pupils from P1-7 participated in a potted sports event today organised by Mrs Gray our P.E specialist. Children took part in fun games and activities using their knowledge and skills from P.E lessons to earn house points for their sports teams. P7 pupils, high school students along with school staff set up and co-ordinated each station and the children rotated round the tasks in their house groups throughout the day. Children demonstrated very good sporting attitudes and were very supportive and encouraging of each other. A huge thank you to Mrs Gray for organising and coordinating this event.

ibike Led Cycle
Nine Primary 7 pupils took up the opportunity to participate in a led cycle through Dalbeattie forest today with Katie from ibike. Children carried out some bike and helmet checks in the playground before setting off through the forest. The group cycled through the forest stopping at various points to discuss markers, routes and aspects of nature they were seeing on their morning out. There was also an opportunity to explore the new woodland park. Well done to all those who took park and showed determination with those hills. It certainly was a lovely day to be out cycling in the forest.

Run Doon Hame Five Capitals Challenge
Dalbeattie Primary School has been delighted to support the Run Doon Hame charity run today in school. The children have come to school in non uniform and donated £1 each for a wrist band. Then in the afternoon, the school children gathered in Colliston Park to welcome the runners as they continued on their journey. The team of five runners, all policemen, were greeted by the children before answering questions about their challenge. We found out that the challenge is to run 732 miles in one week, visiting five capital cities. The challenge started in London and will end in Edinburgh on Sunday 29th May when the team will then take part in the Edinburgh Marathon. They have raised over £7000 so far which will go to the charities ‘Westsound Cash For Kids’ and ‘Care of Police Survivors.’ Today, in school the children raised £343 to add to this. Well done and thank you to everyone for supporting this!
