Visitors in P6F

Last week we had a visit from Mrs Armitage who came along to tell us all bout life in the Caribbean as she lived and taught there on an island called Curacao a few years ago!  We were all very keen to hear her stories and she kindly left lots of photographs and other items for us to look at.  Mrs Armitage said we were great listeners and really enjoyed chatting with us.  Thank you for popping in!P1000840

Later on that week we had a visit from Lisa Ashby from the Smoking Matters Team.  She came along to ask our help in looking at a case involving a smoker.  We had lots of discussion regarding what influences young people to begin smoking and the related risks.  We worked very well on several tasks and then used  our new knowledge in a creative writing task.

P5/6 Japanese Food tasting

Today we had Mrs Ross come and cook for us! She made some fantastic Japanese stir fry food with Udon noodles. We then had traditional Japanese pancakes with fresh fruit and cream. We loved it! We also tasted Wasabi peanuts and seaweed crackers which were very spicy!

We all had a great time and we would like to thank Mrs Ross for taking the time to cook for us, we thoroughly enjoyed it!

Push and Pull Forces

This term primary 2 have been learning about the park for their topic.  This week the children went a walk to the park to learn about push and pull forces.  The children played on the different park equipment and decided whether they were using a pushing or pulling force.  They also took into consideration the positions of the different activities in the park to help them plan their plan views of the park.

ibike Obstacle Course

The wet and miserable weather today didn’t stop some of our P6 and P7 pupils from getting on their bikes and taking part in an ibike obstacle course with Katie our ibike leader. Children braved the rain and had a fantastic time developing their cycling skills going over various ramps, jumps and beams.

P5 Group 1 water sports

The first group of Primary Fives  visited Carlingwark Loch yesterday with Mrs Graham and Mrs Robison to carry out some fun activities with the Outdoor Education team. The children were split into three groups and took part in sailing, kayaking and canoeing. All the children had a great time and were very enthusiastic throughout.  Some even braved the cold and snow to have a little swim at the end!

Well done!
