P3 had another super successful trip this week! Thanks to Threave Gardens for hosting. Everyone enjoyed exploring the beautiful grounds while learning about woodland animals and birds.
‘Respect trees, plants and animals’ was the message being spread by the pupils on their return to school.
Primary 2/3 enjoyed a visit to Threave Gardens. the participated in a range of planned learning activities.

Fantastic morning spent up the Rounall Woods today(11.9.19)!
The children had such great fun exploring, identifying and building! After a successful scavenger hunt the children worked in teams to design and build their own ‘Home for a Hedgehog’ and Stick Skeleton!

Today, we held two different assemblies where awards were presented: one for P1 up to P3 and another for P3 / 4 up to P7. It was pleasing to see lots of deserving award winners.
Towards the end of term P1 had a great visit to Threave Gardens in connection with our ‘In the Garden’ topic. We had great fun working with James and Colin the Rangers and lucky for us the sun shone all day!
P1/2 had a fantastic time at Rockliffe for our school trip. The children loved hunting for sea creatures in the rockpools and learning all about the beach through playing games.
On Wednesday 26th June, P3 had a lovely visit from local lady Annette Need. Annette is a baker and she also runs the Colvend Producer’s Market. We thought this would fit in perfectly with our Food and Farming topic. She kindly brought in all the ingredients for us to make our own pizzas.
Firstly, we had a chance to taste all of the lovely ingredients – some of which we would not think to put on a pizza. It was great to see all of the different faces when sampling the food! We then had to roll our dough and put our tomato sauce base on. We had the option of three different cheeses before then selecting out toppings.
After making the pizza, we put them in the oven to cook. Not long after, we were able to safely transport our pizzas back to the classroom before saving them to take home.
Thank you Annette for taking the time to come and do this with us – we thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks also to the two high school pupils who helped, Miss Aitchison and also to Mrs Houston for allowing us to use her facilities again.

The following also received certificates: Jude Mouat, Connor Hitchell, Cameron Hitchell, Ella Blaikie, Fallon McGimpsey, Rebecca Hird, Jessica Boynton, Rory McCormick, Ebony McMorran, Katie Harper, Freya MacIntosh, Abigail Houston, Aoife Tallontire, Eilidh Tallontire, Fabio Murray Sanchez, Blair Kalotka, Amber Latimer, , Katie Mein, Emma Harper, Finlay Burns, Megan Oswald, Grace Hurley, Carrie Davidson.
Also presented later in the day were framed pictures to keep for Jennifer Taylor and Ebony McMorran, who had previously won the Library Mascot competition. These designs have now been enhanced using graphics and copies have been framed to display in school. The images, saved as jpegs, can now be used in the future on library certificates or prizes.
We were, however, sorry to be saying goodbye to Miss Thomson, Miss Wilson and Miss Dalton.
Primary 1 /2 has had a great pirate fun day which included a treasure hunt in the playground, ‘sea’ role play storytelling corner, pin the patch on the pirate, make a giant pirate ship from cardboard and cup cake decorating. Thank you Miss Dalton for a fab day!
