Last week P1 enjoyed a great trip to Threave Gardens where they met with the Rangers to go bug hunting and pond dipping. We had a lovely walk round the gardens and a play in the park- even though the sunny weather seemed to have disappeared!
P1 began their 4 week block of football training with Queen of the South this Friday and had a great time. They had a chat about healthy eating before skills practice and play. They are looking forward to next week!
P1 recently enjoyed a great trip to Dino Park at the end of their work on Dinosaurs. They had a super day carrying out various activities and visited the shop of course!!
On Friday afternoon it was Miss Reid’s last day after teaching in P1F for 10 weeks ……so we had a little party! We were very sad to say goodbye as we have loved being taught by Miss Reid and thank her for all the hard work and fantastic lessons. We wish her lots of luck with her class in August and look forward to seeing her next term as she is going to pop back and see us!
On Thursday afternoon we invited parents and friends to join us for some fun making junk model dinosaurs! First of all we sang a dinosaur song and then we began creating our dinosaurs. We had a brilliant time making them and we think the mums and dads enjoyed themselves too!! Mrs Fitzsimmons and Miss Reid were extremely impressed with the creativeness shown and would like to thank everyone who came along again for helping and supporting the children.
Last week P1 received a special delivery from a professor in Canada needing our help. He sent us an egg he discovered while digging for dinosaur fossils. As he was so busy he asked if we would monitor it for him in different conditions and report back with our findings. Of course we were very up for the challenge and decided to pack it carefully and first of all put it beside the window in our classroom!

Last week P1F walked over to the High School to take a look at how our new school campus is developing. We could see the nursery and P1 classrooms from the platform. Mr Widdowson showed us lots of photographs of the work being carried out and Mrs Howie showed us the plans.
P1F have been learning about healthy eating and the benefits of eating a healthy breakfast. We have also been learning some vocabulary in our French work, of which some words were rather familiar! So we decided to join the learning and have a French breakfast in class. We practiced our vocabulary and then had to ask for the items we would like in French! Next we rated each item of food and decided we would love to go to France!!
