P1F Dinosaur Models!

Last week P1 had a fun afternoon making junk model dinosaurs with our parents and friends.  First of all we sang a song which finished with some audience partcipation and then we got ‘stuck in’ to the enormous pile of junk we collected!  Mrs Fitzsimmons and Miss Yousaf were extremely impressed with all our creative models and collaborative work.  We would like to say a HUGE thank you to all the mums, dads, grannies and aunties who came along and supported us.  We hope you had as much fun as we did!!

P1F’s French Breakfast!

P1 have been learning about healthy eating this term and combined this with their French lessons.  We discussed the importance of breakfast and learned lots of food items in French.  We have been very keen following the visit of Madam Marolleau who just happened to bring some French fruit marmalade for us!  Take a look at all the yummy food we ate!!  Of course we had to ask for it in French!

France comes to Dalbeattie Primary!

Last week we were very lucky to have two French teachers in school.  Madam Marolleau and Nadège Bertin were hosted by Mrs Fitzsimmons and Mrs McLean as part of the Nancy-Metz partnership with our region.  Both teachers visited classes in the primary and secondary school, presented PowerPoints, answered numerous questions (in French and English!) joined in lessons and read stories in French!  They had a great week and thoroughly enjoyed their time with all the super pupils and were very impressed by all our work.  Fantastique!

Piping in P1!

Last week P1 were lucky enough to have a visit from a very talented S4 pupil.  To finish off our Scottish topic work Shannon McMinn came along and played the bagpipes for us!  We all thought she was fantastic and I think a few people around the school just might have heard her too!!

We also performed our own Scottish dance, ate some tasty shortbread and shared some work we produced comparing the Island of Coll and the town of Dalbeattie.  Last but not least, Jessica performed her winning poem.
