P1 have been taking part in a variety of activities about ‘Winter’ lately from ice investigations to an outside winter hunt, creating frozen Elsa hands, printing winter scenes, loose part snowflakes, drawing snowmen using Paint and some great abstract art. Here are just a few of our activities….

Last week P1F had a great afternoon selling their Christmas crafts to parents and relatives following a busy week of creating, gluing and glittering! We would like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone for coming and supporting us and helping us raise a fantastic £248.50!! We think this is amazing! Thank you also to Mrs Fitzsimmons’ mum for knitting our Santa and Elf for our raffle and to all of you who bought a ticket. The winners were Sam in P1 and Kourtney in P6.
This afternoon P1 welcomed all their parents, relatives and friends to come and play! They had a great time showing everyone how they learn their sounds and many of the games they play to practice their skills. Thank you very much to everyone for coming along and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
A very big ‘hello’ from all our P1’s!
Towards the end of term P1 had a great visit to Threave Gardens in connection with our ‘In the Garden’ topic. We had great fun working with James and Colin the Rangers and lucky for us the sun shone all day!
P1F have been learning about plants and flowers so we decided to go outside to look at how our planters are coming along and see if we could find any flowers we knew….we also enjoyed being out in the sunshine!
We enjoyed drawing some of our flowers.
As we had been talking about springs flowers and animals Roan kindly brought in a birds nest that was in his garden hedge from last year. It was a great example. Thank you for bringing it in to show us.
Recently P1 had a fantastic trip to Dino Park to round up their learning about dinosaurs. We all had great fun in the sun all day taking part in a variety of games and activities! Take a look….
On Tuesday afternoon we invited all our parents and relatives to come along and have some fun making a junk model dinosaur with us. We started the afternoon with a song, which involved a little audience participation towards the end and then we got going making our models! We had a fantastic time creating our original dinosaurs and Mrs Fitzsimmons was very impressed with all our ideas! Thank you very much to all our parents and relatives for coming along to help us. We hope you had as much fun as we did!!!
This term P1 have been learning about a healthy diet and so recently we made our own healthy snack! We learned the ‘claw’ and ‘bridge’ technique to chop, slice and shred a selection of vegetables. As you can see we enjoyed creating and eating the final product! Thank you to Mrs Houston from the High School for lending us the aprons and some chopping boards.
