Sponsored Walk
What a fantastic day for a walk in the woods. All classes participated in sponsored walks through Dalbeattie town woods today. P4-P7 set out on their walk this morning and covered approximately 2.7 miles with a snack stop on route. P1-3 had an afternoon walk covering approximately 1.7 miles. Sponsor money raised from this event will to go towards the cost of transport for school trips and visits this session. A huge thank you to all parents who joined us for the walks and to P7 Sports Captains and Vice Captains for their help with P1-3 and the afternoon walk.
P7 Transition
Primary 7 pupils have started some transition work with the Home Economics Department at Dalbeattie High school. Pupils have been attending the High School on a Tuesday afternoon in small groups along with peers from our cluster schools. The children have been working with Mrs Houston during these visits to make carrot cake muffins. During the visits, the children are also experiencing what it is like to be in a secondary class/school environment and the expectations of the Home Economics Department. Thank you to Mrs Houston for supporting us with this transition work. We are hoping to visit the department again later on in the school session.
Triathlon Success
Well done to Aaron and Owen Bryson who took part in a Junior Triathlon at Kirkcudbright today. The boys both swan, ran and cycled as part of the event. The event was organised by the Triathlon Trust. We will certainly be looking to support this event further in the future should it take place locally again. Anyone interested in supporting the school with this please get in touch through the school office.

Country Dancers Entertain
Mrs Fortnum and some pupils who have attended our country dancing after school club this year visited Barlochan Care Home at Palnackie today and entertained the residents with some dancing. The dancers and Mrs Fortnum performed a selection of dances some of which were performed in the Dumfries Music Festival and more recently, some that have been part of the accreditation process for several dancers. The staff and residents thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment and a few joined in a short dance with the pupils.
