Primary 3 and 3/2 are learning about Our Local Area this term as part of our school topic on Scotland.
This week for homework we interviewed our mum and dads about why they chose to live in this area. We found out that some of them chose to live here because it is a nice area, it is quiet, its very green, houses are cheaper than in Edinburgh so they could buy bigger houses and a lot of our families live here. Some families have lived here for over 20 years and others are new to the area.
Next week, we are going for a walk along Broxburn main street to look at the different shops and buildings we can see. We are then going to build Broxburn in our area. Please make sure you have a water proof jacket for our walk on Monday. If you have any old cardboard boxes could you please bring them into school to help us to build our 3D model of Broxburn. Thank you.
We will post photographs of our model when we are finished it. We can’t wait to start this next week.

Here are some pictures of Primary 2 and 3 Christmas Party. It was great fun!
Primaries 2 and 2/1 were very excited by Rudey’s message this morning. He has rewarded us for all of our good behaviour and hard work with a popcorn and movie afternoon. This will be a lovely way to spend our final day with Rudey! He has really enjoyed visiting our classrooms this year and will be heading back to The North Pole to make the final preparations for Christmas. Goodbye Rudey, we will miss you!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Love from Primary 2 and Primary 2/1
On Tuesday afternoon primary 1 had a lovely Christmas craft afternoon. We invited our parents / carers / grandparents to come along to help us. We also had some primary 7’s come along.
We made lots of lovely things, such as a paper chain Christmas tree; reindeer food (to make sure they land on our gardens on Christmas eve); hot chocolate rudolphs. We also played games, read Christmas stories and did some Christmas worksheets.
Thank you to everyone who came along. It really was a fantastic afternoon.
Primary 1 had a really fantastic Christmas party on Wednesday afternoon.
We were all wearing our beautiful party clothes, and were so excited all day!
We played lots of games and won lots of prizes for musical statues, pass the parcel and best dancers, but our favourite was musical bumps.
We even had a visit from SANTA!!!! He gave us all a present!
We are now well and truly in the Christmas spirit!
There was much excitement in Primary 5b this morning when a parcel arrived from The Netherlands. It contained several beautifully wrapped gifts linked to the recent Sinterklass celebration on the 5th December. Through these gifts we were able to learn more about the Christmas traditions followed in The Netherlands and about our patron saint, St Nicholas. We are looking forward to using these gifts to make some Christmas crafts tomorrow. ‘Zalig Kerstfeest’ from Primary 5.
Today Primary 2 and 3 had a great party over at the Strathbrock Centre. We all had fun and took part in lots of dancing and games. Pictures to follow.
On Thursday the 10th of December primary 7 visited Dynamic Earth as part of the Big Data Event. Data is information stored in an electronic device or computers.
When we arrived we split into three groups, one of which went off to do an interview with Jude Spence and the other two had a tour of Dynamic Earth. First on the tour we found out about the Big Band. We went into a time machine to travel back 6.2 billion years, surprisingly it didn’t take us that long! We all thought the time machine was very interesting as we got lots of facts about how our Solar System began.
Next we moved onto find out about the formation of Planet Earth and how ice formed the mountains, rivers and valleys. We even got to see and touch a huge iceberg!
Afterwards we went a flight to find out about the Rainforest. This was most people’s favourite part of the day as the it was quite scary and we loved wearing our 3d glasses.
Ten people were chosen by the teachers to go to and answer questions and got a once in a life time experience in the data dome. The Data Dome is a large black sphere and projectors shined on the sphere which created circles to go round showing the trending data on Social media such as Twitter. They also showed how some of the data is used. Rachael learnt that data came from many different places and Sophie learnt that data is formed by many different ways.
To finish the day we also got a chance to use some Google Cardboard, this is like Google glasses. It was so much fun and everyone was laughing at each others reactions.
Finally we would like to say a big thank you to Jude Spence for organising the day for us, we all really enjoyed ourselves and would love to go back.
This morning Primaries 2 and 2/1 were confused when they entered their classrooms as there was no sign of Rudey! They were worried that he had gone back to The North Pole early. However, Mrs Leonard came in with some interesting news! She asked us to come down to the photocopying room to investigate. On the walls were selfies of the two Rudey’s which they had taken using the photocopier over the weekend. They also left us a note saying they were bored without us. Mrs Brown also came to investigate and said that we should keep the photographs as evidence of their naughty behaviour to show Santa.
Arran H – I was very shocked when Rudey wasn’t in our classroom.
Finlay F – I was amazed to see that Rudey had used the photocopier.
Matthew M – I was a bit sad to see that Rudey wasn’t there.
Zach – I think that Rudey should go home with us over the weekend to show him how to behave properly.
We hope that Rudey’s behaviour will be better tomorrow!
Well done to Cole for being our ‘Star of the Week’. Cole has worked hard all week and been a super helpful boy around class.
This week’s ‘Dojo Champion’ is the whole class !! I am so proud of how well you all did performing our Nativity before three different audiences. A special treat is coming your way on Monday. Have a lovely weekend boys and girls !
Primary 6 have been completing our health and well being topic about nutritional values of our food and drinks. We learned about the sugar in our drinks and were amazed to see the amount in some of our favourite drinks! We created a ‘think before you drink’ display to remind us just how unhealthy these drinks are and to make us think twice about buying them regularly!
This week we completed an experiment with eggs to find out what these drinks can do to our teeth! Mrs Thomson boiled us some eggs and we put them into cola, coffee, tea and water. We left them for 5 days… not only did they smell bad, when we removed them they looked disgusting! The tea, coffee and cola all stained the eggs… the coffee was the worst; it stained the inside of the egg when we cut it open! The egg that we left in water was perfect, it was not stained at all. We got some toothbrushes and and tried to see if any of the staining would come off but it didn’t! The egg soaked in cola was slimy and solid to cut! Yuk!
We also looked at calcium in bones and teeth! We soaked some bones from chicken drumsticks in vingear, the acid made the bones very easy to bend, this showed us the importance of drinking calcium based drinks and food!
Last month the children of primary 6 had a wonderful time at school camp!
We were put to the test with many challenges and we all learned lots of new skills! Have a look at some of our photos!
My favourite activity was the inflatables, we were battling against each other – Mandipa
I loved the trail bikes because we went on an adventure – Finlay
I loved going up Jacobs ladder, it was really hard! – Francesco
I liked bungee run, it was so funny seeing Miss King and Miss Miller against each other – Nicole
I liked the lowropes, I went down the mineshaft! – Sami
Lendrick Muir has nice food, pizza was great! – Madison
I loved doing the rocket launch challenge – Caitlin
Primary 5 have spent time this week looking into traditions surrounding the celebration of Christmas in other parts of the world. As groups we chose countries we were interested in and found out as many interesting facts as possible. We were fascinated to discover that in some countries advent starts much sooner and the Christmas celebrations go on for much longer!
Today, Primaries 2 and 2/1 had another surprise. They came into their classroom to discover Rudey reading the Nativity Story to the teddy bears and dolls!
He left us a letter asking us to teach him more about this story.
Zach- It was a little bit like when the teacher reads the story and we have milk.
Cerys- I want to teach Rudey that Christmas isn’t about getting presents, it is about Jesus’ birthday.
Connor G- Rudey needs to be taught that Christmas isn’t just about Santa, it is about the day Jesus was born in a barn!
The children are going to learn as much as they can about the Nativity story and teach Rudey the true meaning of Chrismas.
*Christmas Alphabet – write an A-Z list of all things Christmas!
*Invention – invent a toy for Christmas that every child in Scotland will want!
*Q and A – the answer is Christmas Day… what is the question? Create 10 questions!
*Prediction – write an imaginative paragraph about your Christmas day… 10 years from now!
*Disadvantages – List 10 disadvantages of being an ELF!
ALL TASKS WORTH 5 DOJO POINTS IF COMPLETED BY FRIDAY 11th DECEMBER!
This afternoon P3 conducted an experiment to find out what dissolves in water and what does not dissolve. Dissolving means that when it is mixed with water it disappears.
We got cups of hot water and lots of different things to test. We tested : sugar, coffee, sand, flour, tea, salt, bath salts, gray granules, chalk and bicarbonate of soda.
We predicted whether each item would dissolve or not dissolve by putting our thumbs up or down.
We also gave the water a stir when we put the item into the water. This helped some of them to dissolve.
This is a list of the things that did dissolve: bicarbonate of soda, sugar, salt, coffee, flour, bath salts and gravy.
We found out that the gravy granules only dissolved in boiling water.
This is a list of the things that did not dissolve: tea, sand and chalk.
We also found out that some of the things changed the colour of the water but did not dissolve, like tea.
On Thursday, Primaries 2 and 2/1 made snowflakes, snowmen and robins to cheer Rudey up. He was very pleased and rewarded us with 10 minutes extra Golden Time!
Today we were shocked to find both Rudeys had been up to mischief! Mrs Dymock’s Rudey was holding a letter and Mrs Gibson’s Rudey was lying in the snow!
This is what they said:
Dear Primaries 2 and 2/1,
What a boring weekend we have had! We have been so lonely in your classrooms without you all! Luckily, we found each other and managed to get up to a little bit of mischief! Don’t you just love the snow?!
Love from
The Two Rudeys xxxx
Zach- They had a snowball fight as well!
Fallon- They made snow angels.
Aaron Mc- I was a bit shocked to find them lying in the snow.
Baillie- I was shocked and happy they found each other.
Well done to Lara for being our ‘Star of the Week’. Lara worked hard all week, had super manners and wrote lots and lots in her news jotter all by herself.
Well done to Zofia for being our ‘Dojo Champion’. Zofia has also worked hard all wee, had super lunch time manners and been fantastic in class helping to tidy up,
Well, it became a lot clearer today as to why two elves suddenly appeared in our classes the other day. Santa needs our help ! He left us a letter explaining what it is he wants us to do. It turns out that the two little elves are still learning how to be good and so Santa has sent them to our classes so that we can teach them all about good manners, team work, good listening, how to share and how to be helpful.
We are going to try extra harder over the next few weeks to display these super behaviours in the hope that the two little elves will learn too. We have a lot of work to do though when it comes to these elves!
Our classes were a right old mess on Thursday as the elves thought it would be funny to have a snowball fight. Oopsy ! On Friday, they had decided to make snow angels. More mess ! It looks as though we have our hands full. Watch this space for more elf updates.
Primaries 2 & 2/1 were very excited to see what antics Rudey had been up to during the night. They were shocked to find Rudey hanging from our ceiling! He had also sneaked onto our teacher’s computer to type us a letter. This is what he said:
Dear P2 / P2/1,
I am sad to see that there are no sparkly snowflakes in your classroom. I thought that you would have enjoyed your treat yesterday! I am feeling a bit sad and missing home so I need you to make your classroom look more like The North Pole. I am not moving from here until I start to feel more at home!
Love,
Rudey x
So we have decided to have a busy afternoon making glittery snowflakes, snowmen and robins. We hope that Rudey will start to feel more at home and will come down soon!
Primaries 2 and 2/1 had a very special visitor from the North Pole! He is called Rudey and he is one of Santa’s elves. Santa wrote us a letter explaining that Rudey needs help. He is a very naughty elf and he needs to learn some good behaviour from the boys and girls.
On the 1st of December, Rudey left a terrible mess in our classrooms! We had to teach Rudey how to tidy up properly. We also made our own paper elves and painted a huge elf for our classroom doors.
On the 2nd of December, Rudey was very nice. He left us scissors, paper and glitter. He has written a letter thanking us for making him feel welcome and has rewarded us with craft materials to make snowflakes!
Justin- He is very cheeky!
Ciaran- He is magic.
Daniel- He is naughty.
Matthew M- He is kind and a little naughty sometimes.
Connor- I felt excited.
Anna- He is not tidying up properly.
Neve W- I was shocked!
Here we are with our super windmills. We made these by carefully following instructions and using what we understood about wind turbines from out topic work. We also looked at the pros and cons of using wind energy which we will use to stage a debate on the the issues surrounding renewable and non-renewable energy.
Primaries 2 and 2/1 are delighted to show you what they have been busy making to sell at the Christmas Fair. We have made Good Luck Calendars which will be £1 and some Snowmen decorations which will cost £2.50.
We have really enjoyed making these!
If you are a parent in P2 or P2/1 and are unable to attend the Christmas Fair, you may send an envelope with money inside clearly stating what you wish to buy before Thursday 3rd December.
Many thanks!
Well done this week to Kyle for being our star this week. Kyle has worked really hard all week and especially with his writing. Great work Kyle keep it up !
A big well done to Flynn for being our ‘Dojo Champion’ this week. Flynn has remembered his super manners all week and has tried really hard to remember his lines for our Nativity. Cock a doodle dooooooo Fynn !
Primary 1 would like to say a big thank you to Peter from ‘Better Movers, Better Thinkers’ for coming along to our class today. We learnt new games and exercises, that not only had us moving around, but also had us developing our thinking skills. We had great fun and will continue these games in class.
Mrs Baty would like to appologize for the lack of blog posts recently.
We have all been working so hard over the last few weeks, making it very hard for our teacher to choose a star of the week each week.
Friday 6th November – our star of the week this week was Hamza. Hamza had been working very hard over the last week and a half (as it was just a short week the week before). He had been trying really hard with his writing and reading. Well done Hamza.
Friday 13th November – our star of the week this week was Grace. Grace had been doing brilliant listening all week and had been a lovely friend to others in the class. Well done Grace.
Friday 20th November – our star of the week this week was Wojciech. Wojciech had been working super hard with his sounds, his reading and his writing, and had been writing beautiful sentences. Well done Wojciech.
Primary 1b have been so very busy since the October holidays, that Mrs Baty has barely had any time to update the blog (very sorry about that!)
We have been working very hard with our numbers, and have been doing so well, that we are now learning numbers to 20 (and beyond!). Look at some of the things we have been doing. We are so proud of ourselves.
Primary 2 have been learning all about the features of 2D and 3D shape. They know how to count the corners (vertices), faces and edges. The children were shape detectives at home and searched for 3D shapes in their house to make their very own 3D objects. They used their imagination and created a wonderful selection of objects. Some of their objects include robots, a house, a mouse, a church, a skylander, a car and a doctor’s needle. The children enjoyed showing their friends their hard work and talking about the shapes that they used. Here are some photographs to show all of our hard work.
Thank you to all of the mum’s and dad’s for helping the children on their projects!
Today Primary 3A and B completed an experiment to see how to melt ice the quickest way using our bodies. We made a prediction about how fast we thought we could melt it and the best method of melting it.
We tried to rub it between our hands, left it on the table, crushed the ice in our hands, heat it with our breath and used our sleeve to melt it.
We discovered the best way to melt the ice was to try and heat it with our hands or breath.
In primary 3B the fastest person to melt the ice was Emily in 1 minute 54 seconds. In primary 3A Robbie melted it 1 minute 40 seconds.
We know that when ice melts it turns back into water.
Here are some pictures of us in action.
After we melted the ice we all had cold hands and then completed a science report.
This morning, Mrs Casey (from St. Margarets) came to visit P7A. Firstly, we played a game, identifying different types of numbers – we had to identify if the number was: odd, even, multiple of ten or a multiple of five. Faith thought the game was really enjoyable because it really got your brain thinking because some numbers went in more than one category. Rachael thought it was quite challenging because we had to come up with definitions for odd and even which is quite hard to put into words.
Next, we looked at the Mobius Strip, which was invented by the famous mathematician August Ferdinand Mobius. To complete our investigation, we were given 3 strips of paper, and 3 stickers. First of all, we created a loop with 1 strip and put 1 twist into the loop. We predicted what we thought would happen when we cut the strip in half. Ellie thought that it would make 2 separate loops. The outcome was 1 loop in the form of the infinity sign. We then tried this with 2 twists, and predicted what would happen. Sana thought it would be double the infinity sign. Ellie thought there would be 4 loops on each side. The outcome was double infinity sign. With the 3rd piece of paper we made one
with our own amount of twists to investigate what would happen. We also discussed how the Mobius strip is used in the world, it was used in: art and fan-belt in cars.
We are very excited to have started our Nativity preparations. Please send in the following costumes by Monday 30th November, in a bag clearly labelled with your name:
P2 Boys – Sheep: White top/t-shirt and black leggings/trousers.
P2 Girls – Pigs: Pink top/t-shirt and black leggings.
Narrators should wear their full school uniform (white shirt and tie) with an element of tinsel, e.g a hairband, round cuffs or waist.
Thank you.
P2 Class Teachers

Nikola learned the order of the Planets; Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. We also created a rhyme to help us remember the order My Very Eager Mother Just Severed Up Natchos. Sophie learned that there are two different types of planets; Rocky planets and Gas planets. Rachael learned that Saturn, Uranus and Neptune have rings. Lewis learned that the Sun is a star.
Primary 7 have also been gaining an awareness of the scale and distance between the planets. To do this we created a scale drawing of the Solar System. During this task we had to use a scale and measure very carefully to ensure our drawing were actuate.
We have started learning about nocturnal animals. We have been focussing on owls.
What have we learnt ?
Kyle – When owls go outside to hunt they like to eat mice.
Grady – They swoop down to get some food (Good words Grady !).
Niamh – Some owls have big wings to help them to fly.

Tavia – Some are very, very small.
P1a and P1b had a taste of what it is like to be a popstar today when we recorded our version of ‘When Santa got Stuck up the Chimney’ for our school’s Christmas CD. We sang into one big microphone using our very best voices. We sounded great ! The CDs are currently being made and will soon be ready for you to order for £4. More details will follow about this shortly.
P1 received some special post today, a lovely certificate from Macmillan Cancer Support thanking us all for our recent donation. Thanks again everyone for your support. It is greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Mrs Macdonald, Mrs Baty and Mrs Gibson.
On Monday 16th November P7a and P7b went to Broxburn Academy to participate in a local basketball festival. Schools from the Broxburn cluster attended and played against each other . We all thoroughly enjoyed it and hope to do it again in the future. In fact we enjoyed it that much that some of us have signed up to attend an after school basketball club.
This week Primary 7 have been exploring Bullying. We have identified what bullying is, what types of bullying there are and what we can do to stop it. As a class we made different posters on how bullying can take on many forms, such as cyber-bullying, mental, emotional, and physical bullying. We looked at different types of posters, discussed what a good poster looks like and all the different ways we could layout our information.
Here are some of the posters we created.
These are our top tips for dealing with bullying:
Remember;
Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me.
Primary 3A had a fencing taster session today. It was great fun and we all learned a little about this sport and how to stay safe when taking part in it. Look at us in action.
Well done to Grace and Rebecca for taking part in a Tapathon to try and beat the world record yesterday. Keep dancing!
Also well done to Monde-Jnr for receiving a trophy for coming 2nd in a Go karting competition with the West of Scotland Karting Club at the weekend.
Photos to follow, when Mrs Canning can sort the camera!
What have we learnt ?
What have we enjoyed ?
Flynn – I have learnt how to say ‘I like and I don’t like’ in Spanish.
I have enjoyed plannin g a Spanish game.

I have enjoyed playing with Lego.
Zofia – I have learnt how it is nice to help each other.
I have enjoyed dancing in class.
Cole – I have learnt how to write number 11.
I have enjoyed writing ee on the board.
Today the primary 5 classes and some of the primary 6 classes worked together to complete a “Build a Bridge” challenge. Together we learned about different types of bridges and then used our knowledge to create a load-bearing bridge of our own – Some designs worked well and others collapsed. However, even if we didn’t succeed this time we learned a lot about our designs which will help us succeed next time. Well done everyone – A fantastic collaborative effort!
Well done to Cole for being this week’s ‘Dojo Champion’. Lots of points were awarded to Cole for trying hard and for helping to tidy up. Well done to you!
Well done too Niamh for being our ‘Star Pupil’ this week. Niamh has worked very well this week on all tasks. She has also had super duper manners. Great work !

We made:
– a little girl
– a rocket
-a kittens bed
-a spaceship
-a candy castle
– a planter
-a pencil holder and a pen pot
-a dragon
– a leaf blower
-a robot and bag
We then showed our models to each other. Everyone has put in lots of effort and all the models look fantastic!
Well done P3 and P3/2

Thomas – I have learnt that Guy Fawkes didn’t like the king. I have enjoyed working with my shoulder partner.
Well done everyone ! You have worked hard.
Primary Five are showing a great interest in their new mini-topic:- Inventors and Scientists. We have been fascinated learning about the early years of some famous figures such as Albert Einstein who couldn’t speak until he was the age of four and whose Grandmother thought was stupid! Here we are putting together some powerful presentations to present the key facts…
We received a visit from the SSPCA this week in Primary 5. We learned about the role of the SSPCA in Scotland, what number to call if we found an animal in distress and what we need to do to look after our pets. We then played a fun game to help us find out facts about animals – Our teachers learned a thing or two too!
Today, primary 1 had a chat about their brand new topic. Now that we have finished learning about dinosaurs, we are very excited to find out what we’re going to be learning about this term.
We are beginning to learn about the sun, moon and stars, and night time animals (very big topic!).
We already know quite a lot about this:
Here are some of the things we want to learn about:
We are very excited to begin finding out lots of new things, and we will keep you updated with our fab work.
Primary 5 have been learning about the Day of the Dead in Spanish. Karolina, Wiktoria and Charlee-Marie really enjoyed learning about the lovely altars that they make to honour their loved ones and Reyan and Oscar liked making sugar skull post cards!
Check out our Day of the Dead post cards and our spooky Halloween costumes!
Happy Hallowe’en everyone !
The boys and girls had a great day today doing all things spooky (not too spooky, Mrs Macdonald is a scaredy cat !). Some of us made skeletons, some of us practiced our good colouring in skills on our Hallowe’en pictures. We also played with dough and used spooky cutters to make shapes. Our story was SPOOKTACULAR ! It was very funny as it was about a smelly ghost. Our teacher hardly reecognised us all as we had all come to school dressed up. Mrs Macdonald said that our costumes were fantastic ! As a treat we have all been given an apple to use for dooking tomorrow and some sweeties.
Here we are having fun !
Today Primary 3 came to school dressed up for Halloween. We looked at artwork by Pablo Picasso. We looked at his art work of faces and how two faces are on the picture of one face. We discussed how one side of the face is looking to the side and the other is looking forwards. Look at our amazing work.
I am pleased to announce that Grady is our first ever DOJO champion as he had the most points. He was even given a point from one of our lovely dinner ladies for super lunchtime manners ! Well done Grady ! Who will it be next week ?
Due to it being a shorter week and with us concentrating on DOJO points, we have had no ‘Star Pupil of the Week’ for this week. This will resume again next week and run alongside the DOJO points. All of the children have come back to school after the break refreshed and ready to work hard. Well done everyone, this makes me proud !

We made perfect pumpkins today in class. We learnt that a pumpkin is a fruit because it has seeds but most people think that it is a vegetable. We also learnt that:
Today p7a and p7b started their high school transitions at St Margarets Academy. Once we arrived we were introduced to Mrs Melville (Deputy Head Teacher), who took us to our classrooms in the Social Studies department. Primary 7a were working with Miss Stone.
Taylor – We learned about how WWII affected children in Germany and how Hitler created “Hitler youth”. The Youth clubs were used by Hitler to prepare young boys to be soldiers and young girls were prepared for motherhood. In Hitler youth, there were 3 stages for boys and 2 stages for girls. Boys started in these clubs at the age of 6 and continued until the age of 18.
After break time we focused on what life was like for Jewish people in Germany. We learned about some laws that Hitler pasted to make life very difficult for Jewish people.
Racheal- I learned that in 1938 Hitler created a Law to stop any Jewish people attending University and in 1942 another Law was created to stop Jewish children attending school.
We are all looking forward to going back next week to find out more about how Jewish children were affected by Hitler during WWII.

Well done to Haroon for being P1a’s ‘Star Pupil of the Week’. Haroon has been awarded this for being kind and gentle. You are a star !
Haroon’s picture will follow after the holiday.
Today, we celebrated all of our successes of the last few weeks, both academically and wider. We were all awarded four different certificates: one for learning our sounds, one for learning all about numbers, one for super learning about dinosaurs and one for settling in well to school. We also brought in certificates from home. Some of us have moved up a level for swimming ! Some of us brought in certificates as we had raised money for charity, well done. We also saw a trophy for good ball skills, and certiciates for moving up a level in tae-kwon do. Well done everyone ! You have all worked very hard and we are all proud of you.
Happy holidays !
Mrs Macdonald and Mrs Baty.
Primary 1a, would like to say good bye and good luck to Ciara as today was her last day at St Nicholas. We will miss you Ciara ! Please keep in touch.
Love from.
Your friends and Mrs Macdonald.
Primary 6 would like to offer a huge thank you to everyone who contributed to our Syrian Refugee Appeal. We are overwhelmed with the generosity of everyone at St Nicholas. As you can see from the pictures, the van could not have stored any more of your donations. All of your donations will have reached Calais and are helping refugee’s right now! We are all very proud.
We would also like to thank all of the parents and children who attended our assembly. We worked extremely hard to put together the appeal, the videos and the assembly overall. We loved sharing our hard work with you all and we hope you enjoyed it too!
Primary 6 Assembly
Mrs Hesketh has very kindly been busy making a new friendship spot for our playgrounds.
This lovely sign is already up in the infant playground and will soon be introduced into the other playgrounds too.
Children whose friends are off school, or are still eating lunch, can go to the spot, and can find new people to play with.
The primary 1’s have particularly loved this. They have all been keen to share stories of finding new friends or playing with someone who didn’t have anyone.
We are looking forward to hearing many more lovely stories.
Well done Primary 5 on great presentation of your homework research projects. We learned so much about all sorts of things from the 1960s such as how the lava lamp works, which famous criminals attempted escapes from Alcatraz, who the first man on the moon was and also all about the Beatles – Fantastic work!
A great visit to Broxburn Library today for Primary 5 A and B. We learned that a lot of things were MUCH cheaper in the 1960s than they are today, but that many people didn’t have very much money to spare. We learned that most houses would only have one black and white television and the whole family would gather around it in the living room where it would be warm from the fire to watch favourite programmes such as Coronation Street! Here we are at the library and here are some of our fantastic 1960s costumes!
