Bell’s Brae Primary Netball Team
We are so proud of our Primary Netball team who were awarded the Sportsmanship Award as part of the Shetland Primary Netball League. The girls have taken part in a number of matches against teams from all over Shetland and have been great representatives of Bell’s Brae.
Here they are at training on Monday accepting their certificates and trophy! 🙂
Number bonds in Primary 1s
Over the last few weeks we have been learning all about number bonds in Primary 1s.  We have been learning all the number bonds that make the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.  Lots of practical work using cubes and counters have helped these bonds to become familiar.Â
Musical Circle Time!
We had a very musical circle time this morning in P6N!
A busy day in P2n
Here are some pictures of a typical busy day in P2n. The class has been learning to use Rekenrek counting frames to help them with subtraction and this has worked really well. Also some great work at the craft table, games table and big book reading activity. Checkout the class singing Frere Jacques in two groups at the top of the page!
Primary 1 Fine Motor Skills
We have had a busy first 2 weeks in Primary 1. We are working on developing our fine motor skills prior to writing. We have taken part in a range of fun activities to practise using our dominant hand and assisting hand; using a tripod grip; controlling small tools etc.
Primary 1 Chinese New Year
Both Primary One classes have been learning about Chinese New Year and how it is celebrated. They have participated in a variety of activities, which we ended with a Chinese New Year party! Â
P7S trip to the Shetland Museum and Archives
P7S went to visit the Shetland Museum last Wednesday. They were shown some exhibits from Shetland during WWII in the display cabinet and also had the chance to make peg dolls after thinking about the ‘Make Do And Mend’ policy, of making the best use of materials at the time.
P7S are also very busy making Anderson Shelters at the moment as part of our WWII topic. So far this has involved a great deal of problem solving – and fun!
