New Primary 1 Pupils
Primary 1s and Primary 1n have had lots of fun during their first week at Bell’s Brae! 🙂
Washing in the Past with P1n
Our topic is water and today we went to the Museum to learn how people washed their clothes long ago.
We pretended we were in the olden days and used a washboard, brush, soap and dolly to wash the Museum’s dirty tea towels 🙂 What a fun we had!
Primary 1n Floating and Sinking
We have been learning all about water. Today we were scientists, investigating ‘floating’ and ‘sinking’ through different experiments.
We made predictions on whether or not everyday classroom items would float or sink and tested them in water to see if we were right.
In pairs, we constructed our own tinfoil boats and watched to see if they would float. We even added weight on to the boats to see if they could stand up to the test! We loved being scientists for the morning. 🙂
P1n Maths Outside
Today we have been learning how to use – and = signs in written subtraction sums.
It was such a lovely Spring morning, so we did so with chalk outside!
Bell’s Brae Primary Netball Team
We are so proud of our Primary Netball team who were awarded the Sportsmanship Award as part of the Shetland Primary Netball League. The girls have taken part in a number of matches against teams from all over Shetland and have been great representatives of Bell’s Brae.
Here they are at training on Monday accepting their certificates and trophy! 🙂
P1 Teddy Bears’ Picnic
Yesterday was a special day, it was Pancake Day and our Teddy Bears’ Picnic day!
We made pancakes and sandwiches for our picnic. We decorated our pancakes to look like teddies. We danced with our teddies; we sanG with our teddies and we ate with our teddies. Primary 1 had a super time.
Primary 1 Chinese New Year Party
We had a fantastic time at our Chinese New Year party this afternoon.
We tried Chinese foods; we used chopsticks as part of a game and we did a dragon dance! We also tried on Chinese clothes and answered questions about Chinese New Year. We listened to Chinese music and made up our own Dragon style dances too.
Author Lynne Rickards Visits P1
We were so lucky to have author Lynne Rickards in to visit our classes today. She read us a few of her books and we were able to ask her some questions too!
P1N Bread Making
Primary 1n have been reading the story of the Little Red Hen. We made our own bread like in the story. We enjoyed kneading the dough and making our own rolls. We liked eating them even more! 🙂
