Write a letter to someone who runs a business or a local business in Cumbernauld to persuade them to come and talk to us about their business.

Ask lots of questions about how they run their business, using who, what, why, how questions. Also tell them a compliment about their business and tell them that you are enthusiastic about learning about it. Put the schools address on the letter.

Homework and Tuesday

Reading

Over the next few weeks, were are practicing and developing our ability to give our opinion about what we have read/watched and to justify it.

For reading we have to read up to the following pages before Monday:

Highwayman’s footsteps – 252

Elephant in Garden – 184

Hundred Mile an Hour Dog – 25

After you have read a section of the book, evaluate what has happened.

  • Did you think it was interesting? Why?
  • Did you agree with what the characters did? Why?
  • What did you like/dislike about the way it was written? Why?
  • Do you think the story could have gone in a different direction? What would have been better?

Use evidence from the text to help justify what you think.

Maths

We are learning about stocks and shares. We have created an account on the website fantasystockexchange.com and set up a league for the Primary 7s.

Go on  to the website and show someone at home how it works. Keep checking your investments everyday and see how they have changed!

Mr McMullan has lost 6p already!

Today we were creating a piece of recount writing. We were including linking words, past tense verbs, topic specific words, headings, chronological order, paragraphs and brackets.

The children’s enthusiasm, attitude and behaviour was impeccable. I was very very impressed by their maturity and they were incredible representatives for Woodlands Primary School.

A big thank you from Mrs Bellamy, Mrs McLaughlin and Mr McMullan.

Enjoy your weekend, I know I will.

Kilbowie

More photos from Kilbowie.  Children are getting ready to go coasteering.

Children were canoeing and enjoyed the Kilbowie Safari; learning about Scotland’s wildlife and how to survive in the wilderness.

Disco time!

Kilbowie Update

Its been a fun filled 2 days at Kilbowie.  Jam packed with activities and adventure.

After a long journey the Primary sevens arrived at Kilbowie ready to rise to any challenge.

The Primary 7s also enjoyed the night line on Monday night.

All is going well and the children are having so much fun!

Amazing job

Check out the blog on Friday to find out how assembly went.

Tuesday 1st November

This morning we were taking the information from our non-fiction books and using it to create something new.

One book was about Rome, so we designed Roman Castles.

img_3518img_3511 img_3512

One book was about “giants of the deep sea”  so we designed our own deep sea creatures.

One book was about water, so we created our own versions of the water cycle.

We have also started researching World Toilet Day and creating power points about it!

img_3513 img_3514

In maths, we were brainstorming all the things that a family needs to buy in the weekly shop and then researching the prices.

We also had a painting which was done by one of the parents because one of the books was about the National Portrait Gallery! How amazing is this!
