Homework week beginning 8th January

Maths

We are learning about division! Division is when you split up a number into equal groups. We can do this two ways – grouping and splitting. Organise these sums into sums that can be done equally and sums that can’t be done equally.

12 / 3                           24 / 5                            18 / 3                  45 / 9

22/7                    43 / 6                           54/ 9

101 / 3                         243 / 3                         1,921 / 3            888 / 6

Language

We have learned about Remote associative tests (R.A.T.). This is when you get three words and there is another word that links them.

For example –                    Ball           Big             Stool

The word that links them is              foot

Football                                bigfoot                        footstool.

Make up your own one – do it backwards!

We also have new spelling words – learn them backwards! On Friday we will see how well you can say them backwards.

IDL

Fairtrade fortnight is coming up in a few weeks, so we need to plan the Fairtrade tuckshop.

I want to know which chocolate bars you can get that are Fairtrade and what the cheapest price you can get them for is (per 100g). You can visit a shop or use the online websites!

Tuesday 9th of January 2018

This morning we came into class and put up our name for what we want for lunch, we got new seats this morning and on our desks we had to complete some maths cards with our partner.

We wrote some of the sums from the math cards in our jotter, we started a new maths topic on divission, we were learning splitting and grouping and different names for division and different ways to learn division.

We were looking at a division game on the smartboard to help us understand  it. Before break we had to complete some division sums on the chalkboard and in our jotter, /= this is another symbol for division.

We wrote an evaluation for our work.

growth mindset

After lunch to help develop our growth mindset we had to create a tower out of spaghetti and marshmallows.

the point of this was to teach us to not give up when something is extremely difficult and if we keep failing at something not to give up.

Back to school YAAAY!

This morning in maths we were developing our growth mindset by exploring tricky word problems. Try this one for yourself!

Tomorrow in maths, we are starting division! If you want a headstart, check out this website.

Assembly

At assembly some of us gave a presentation about our global warming topic work. We explained how the energy source works and how we built our models.

PE

In PE we were continuing to develop our hand eye coordination and applying it to badminton.

HWB

We were also applying what we had previously learned about cyber safety to help us create a cyber safety mascot. This mascot will be displayed in the classroom and we will show it to the rest of the school to help them to stay safe online.

Nearly Christmas ! 20/12/17

Good Morning

As soon as we came into  school today we went straight to the gym hall for a house assembly.”And the winners of this terms house treat is…..  ASHHHHHHHH!” Well done Ash

Then straight after we went to the I.C.T suite to finish off our christmas party planner.

After Break

After break we did dingbats [Just a wee bit hard]

Here is an example of the dingbats:

Get up and go.

Then we went on to do french.

French

After we had finished our dingbats we started French. We were learning how to read French instructions. We had to try and read the instructions in French and then we had to add french numbers. After we had added the French numbers the answer was a colour. We coloured in the numbers it made a picture.

There was a hard list that was very long then there was another list that had different shops and also was hard.

We learned more about prime and non prime numbers.

A prime number is a number u can’t make with another number.

The class started a poster before break

(:BREAK!:)

We came back into class after break.

We all finished our posters for prime or not prime numbers.

an example of a prime number:

1,2,3,5,7,11,83,2503

an example of a non prime number:

4,6,8,9,10,15,54,3543

Monday the 18th of December!

This morning we were keeping ourselves busy by testing each other  times tables, while some P7s were getting chairs.

Then Mrs Rutherford came and she was teaching us about music. We were listening to a tune called Alpha. Then we were creating the tune on xylophones.

The tunes on the xylophones were epic!

Then we went on to Garage Band and made some music.

After Mrs Rutherford left we did some maths comprehension with multiplying and dividing.

We learned when you are doing algebra calculations, if the calculation is mixed eg, 6+4 divided by 2 you have to add the 6, then the 4 and divide it by 2 , if you don’t, you’ll get the wrong answer!

After playtime we went to ICT and we were making a party plan with food, decorations, crackers, entertainment and a venue. We had a budget of 5,000 pounds and if we had any money left over we could spend it on gifts for the guests.

Then we went to our Christmas Party

By Leila

Thursday 14th of December 2017

This morning our class came in and did their name for lunch, there was a worksheet on their desk that they had to complete, it was about pas tense verbs e.g = “stuart fell” -“A star has fallen”

We went to a house assembly  at 9:15, we were learning our new christmas song for assembly caled “all around the world” (it was a quick assembly) After that we did star pupils for each of the classes. Leila and Ciara got the star pupil for our class!

when we got back to class we finished off our worksheets and then the teacher went over the answers, we had another task after that where we had to explain what was wrong with the sentences containing apostrophes.

these are the senetnces that we had to explain what was wrong with them…
