24.1.17 Wednesday

This morning we went to ICT.

we made a PowerPoint  slide show about global rights and printed photos for our eco friendly city.♻️

(break)😅

We came back into class and did maths.🤓

we are  learning division and word problems.➗

We are learning how to divide with money while using a word problem.❓

EXAMPLE:Jenna had £7.50 and 2 friend how much did they get each=£2:50 💷

(Lunch)🍔

we went back into class.👑

we read  the shilling pie. 💎

The shilling pie😁

We did a critical evaluation.🙃

Turning remainders into decimals

Today in maths we were learning how to take unequal division and make it equal!

We used the context of money to help us understand this.

For example – a shopkeeper has £5 to pay his 2 staff members in total. Normally we used to say that this was £2 each with £1 left over, but now we split the £1 into two 50p which is 0.5 in decimals.

The answer is therefore 2.50 each.

We can now apply this to bigger numbers

E.G. 3,697 divided by 2 is 1,848.5.

Homework week beginning 22nd January

Language

We are continuing to increase our vocabulary! The most important skill in this is to guess the meaning of a word when you see it in a piece of text or when you hear someone say it. Keep your ears and eyes open this week to see how may tricky words your see or hear.

Make up a tricky word quiz with at least 4 tricky words. Test someone in your house or bring it in and test the class. You can email powerpoints to woodlandsp7@gmail.com and we can show the class.

Maths

We are continuing to work on our maths comprehension skills.

Comprehension work sheet

HWB

Last week we learned how to cut safely and accurately. The only way to get better is to PRACTISE PRACTISE PRACTISE.

At least once this week, practice cutting something to help with dinner. If you can’t help make dinner you can get some fruit and cut it up – speak to Mr McMullan, he has tonnes of fruit!

Take some photos and email them to the class email and we can look at them together!

Global Goals

Today we started looking at the “UN Global Goals” campaign

This is a campaign with 17 specific goals for the whole globe E.G. end poverty, promote peace, create gender equality.

We will be exploring this campaign over the next few weeks, so have a look at these websites to learn more about the goals.

Blizzering Tuesday

First To start of to the blizzering morning we went to assembly to do a lot of songs mr green chose the best singers to pic songs he did spring chicken,as one  and a healthy life etc from my opinion it was great.

We got back and we ONLY HAD 10 MINUTES! we were looking at landscapes\landshapes in Scotland there are 700  islands in Scotland isn’t that amazing there are lots of tourists but there would be way more if the weather was better we looked at river lochs and sea lochs.🇫🇮

After that we went and over each and every safety things so we can be safe when we are cooking for my opinion I’m extremely excited for Thursday when we Cook so we have to be extra Careful for it.

Next is maths we did a worksheet for division Afterthat we played will it divide  no one won 🙁 but someone got so close there were 4 contestants my opinion was to start safe them at the end take the risk!

After we moved on to literacy we started with spelling them moved onto readind to do critical evaluation because we will be doing it a lot in high school

We started on a book we have never read someone read first so we got an idea on what we’re doing we are going to be looking into the similes and metaphors a critical evaluation is to do what u like and don’t like about your book and give your opinion about It.you had to underline what u liked about it.📖

Next we started doing the evaluation  it was really interesting after we don idl we planned our eco friendly travel then it was the end of the day bye.

Monday 15th

Today in language we were learning to focus when we were reading. We read for 30 minutes without stopping.

Then we had to answer questions with quotes from the text to prove our answers. This is one of our language benchmarks.

In PE we were playing full badminton games where e had to move our feet towards the shuttle. We also had to keep our eyes on the shuttle.

After PE we continued with our “GREEN CITIES” project.

12/1/18 Happy Friday!

In the morning everyone came in with a smiley face.

Firstly, we did a R.A.T sheet. A R.A.T is 3 words that can only be linked to one word. For example cottage swiss and cake. The word would be cheese.

After that, we did our Green Cities project.

To explore the geographyof different cities.

To choose an ideal location for my eco city.

I can research where different cities are located. I can chooses a country and place for my city.

I can identify the pros and cons of different locations.

Here is what we were doing to achieve the success criteria.

we were learning about the pros ands cons of putting a city in the mountains, on land,or on the coast.

Here are some pictures of Mr Mcmullan’s project:

After break time we went straight to a house assembly. In assembly we did a house quiz to earn points. All of the houses did very well! When we came out of assembly we went straight for lunch.

After lunch we did a game of press the buzzer if it’s your reading book.

Here is a picture of people playing the game:

After we had finished the game we found out the winners the nouns were the winners.

Finally we did our project plan Here are some photos:

Have a good weekend

Thursday 11.1.18

Today we got our “green cities” project up and running.

The first task was to develop recognisable and attractive branding for the city and it’s companies.

Here are some great examples so far.

In PE, we were testing our fitness with the bleep test. Check out how sweaty and hot these kids are! We pushed ourselves to the limit. Well done everyone.

Wednesday 10/1/18

This morning everyone came in with a smile.

Today we started by heading to assembly for a house assembly we had to walk around the school 5 times! We all enjoyed it but after that Mr Green told us about how this year there is going to be Woodlands got talent lots of children are excited after that we headed for breaktime.

After breaktime we came in to see R.A.T all the childre were trying to guess what the word was to relate to all three words. Lots of children were trying to figure out but, in the end alot of children got them. I personally really enjoyed them and want to do it again and i think a lot of other children want to do it again aswell.

After we went over the answers, Every child had to finish or start the summary on their book we had to use lots of skills here they are:

To include qutoes from the text, To include main events in the story, To identify which changed the course of the story or were really important and why, and to give your opinion on the book and charcters. Every child included these and we re-read our books to get even more information. Mr McMullan was going over five diffrent benchmarks. One of these benchmarks are benchmark four,

“Can children refer back to the text to support predictions, thought and opinions?”

Here are some of the children’s amazing summarys.

Then we all headed out for lunchtime, After lunchtime we finished off our growth mindset flowers we startd yesterday and we produce some fabulous work for our good work wall.

Thanks for reading bye,
