Health week homework!

P6/7 Homework w/b: 21.05.18     HEALTH WEEK

All Homework activities have a health focus this week.

 

Complete at least 3 of the activities this week for homework.

 

Plan and budget for a healthy 2 course meal for a family of 5

  • Choose and plan healthy and nutritional meal for a family of 5 – 2 adults and 3 children.
  • List the ingredients and the price of each ingredient (use online supermarket, or visit the supermarket)
  • Maximum £20 spend
  • Add up the total cost of everything needed for the meal
  • 2 courses can be starter and main or main and dessert.

 

How does advertising and the media affect my food choices?

Try out these activities about food adverts and discuss what you find:

  • Look out for adverts for the same type of product (e.g. breakfast cereals) and discuss which one would make you want to try the product and why.
  • Compare different products that have a healthy image and investigate how healthy they really are.
  • Find a food advert that you really like.
    Why do you like it?
  • At home, watch TV during the adverts in the evening. Which food products are being advertised? Which are healthy and unhealthy? Describe the best advert you see.

 

Create an advert which promotes a healthy food product.

It can be a poster or a recording.

It must include the health and nutrition benefits of the food

It must including tempting words and phrases that will make people want to buy the product.

 

Cooking and eating together

If you get the chance, help to cook a healthy, nutritional meal at home.  Write about the meal and its nutritional value.  Remember the benefits of eating together and try to sit and eat with people you love this week as much as possible.

 

Healthy Mind

 

Make a Calm jar!

By focusing our thoughts, we can help settle our mind. This is particularly important when we are facing strong and difficult emotions such as stress, anxiety, anger and worry.

Shake the calm jar up and then watch it settle. This will help settle your mind.

 

 

Healthy body

Here are some physical challenges to try this week to keep yourself healthy

 

  1. Running
    1. Get the strava app or “map my run” and try and run 1km or 1mile. Try it again later in the week and see if you can beat your time.
  2. Circuits class

  3. Go for a walk with someone from home
    1. The weather is going to be great this week and weekend – why don’t you go for a big walk and track how far you walked using strava or map my run. See if there is a local hill you can go up or try a munro!

🌸Monday the 21st of May🌸

This morning, we were practicing our songs for the school show with Mrs Rutherford. Then we went to the lunch hall for choir practice.

Before playtime, we were learning tricky words and made a quiz. Here are some words we learned!!

After playtime, we were learning maths and we made another quiz. This week we’re learning about percentages. We found links from percentages.  Percentages link to fractions and decimals.

After the quiz, we were writing in our jotters how we feel and what we have learned about percentages. Here is something we have learned: If there is 10 pieces of a cake, and one of the pieces is coloured in, that is 10% of the cake coloured in. That would be 0.1 in decimals, and one tenth in fractions.

 

From now on, each week we’re going to learn something new in maths, like one week we could do time, the next money, we could learn anything in maths!! Finally before lunch, we were working on a percentage textbook and we wrote our assessments. Here is our fraction, decimal and percentage maths book!!

After we had our lunch, we went to P.E to work on our agility and athleticism. Our I can for this P.E lesson is: I can stay up on my toes, bend my knees and explain good techniques.

Before hometime, we were learning about an insect’s anatomy  and we made posters about it. We had bronze, silver and gold.

High School PE and music day

Today we had an amazing time at the High School.

 

We took part in lots of different sports and were TUG OF WAR WINNERS!

We also got a huge number of second and third places as well!

The team work was excellent and we all pushed ourselves to the limit!

I am very proud of all the children.

Tuesday 15/5/18

To start off the morning we had Mrs Rutherford.We did music.Our school show songs are great.

Then we had an assembly about wildlife in Scotland.

we played a game where we guessed what the animal was and then we got a bonus point if we found where it lived. Woodlands, farmland, lochs and rivers, mountains and towns and city’s.

Then we had reading after playtime.

Reading

Today  we are learning about character relationships. We started with Percy Jackson.

Character relationships is related with benchmark 20= Can evaluate relationships between characters referring back to the text to support what you say.

Then we made a web to do with relationships between characters in Percy Jackson and the lightning thief.

Ict

We were continuing to learn about the STIKBOT app using green screens.

.

stikbot is a app on the App Store which lets you do green/blue screen. You chose the background that you want for your green/blue screen.

then we had lunch and a break to play.

Maths

Today in maths we are learning about simplest fractions.

We are getting really good at this!

Homework Week beginning 14.5.18

Homework for Monday 21st May

Write four of your own fractions as mixed numbers and then convert them to improper fractions.

What is Pointillism? Explain it and describe what it looks like.

Write 3 examples of a ‘Hyperbole’.

Play the fraction matching game on the website ‘Top Marks’ that we played in class today after lunch time.

Monday 14th of May 2018

This morning we came in class and put up what we want for lunch, we got out Percy Jackson and read as a class until 9:30.

Next we moved onto reading our own reading book for language:

  • Great Expectations = read on their own
  • The chilli cheese challenge = read with Miss Armitage
  • Raiders = read with Mrs Livingston
  • Quakers – Paige = read with Miss Armitage

For our language work today we were moving onto a new benchmark: Characters’ Relationships with others: behaviour. feelings, interaction, reactions, intentions/goals, dialogue. We were using words to describe each of these categories… now its playtime 10:30.

After playtime we got our French jotters out and we were learning “French vowels” e.g.  je = I, nous = we. We had to write some sentences down in our jotters on this piece of work… shortly after we had assembly so we lined up and went to assembly, it was a house assembly so we went in our houses and sang songs and had a house quiz.

After lunch we were moving onto maths, in maths we were learning to change fractions into their simplest form, for the piece of work we had 2 groups: triangles or squares.

We were using the Heinemann maths text books. At 2:10 people who were in the choir had to go with Mrs Rutherford.  The songs are:

  • A million dreams
  • The greatest show

After choir everyone came back to class and watched Percy Jackson the movie until the bell rang and then we went and got our jackets and went home. Thanks for reading this blog by Zoe.

IDL

This morning we did an assessment evaluation about our idl the day before what that is is a round up on how you feel about that learning and to give other groups top tips and advice.

In maths we did improper fractions and mixed number sums and also active learn while most of the class attended a cem test.

We did a mind map  about how to restructure our stories and how to make them better and change moods , settings ,main characters and hooks.

We talked over how to keep your fridge sanitary and hygiene and how to keep,tomatoes,potatoes and onions out your fridge.

Friday 4th of may 🌸

To start of the morning we read Percy Jackson and the lightning thief ⚡

Just before break we showed off our rain forest work.

Well done 👍

Then it was break. After break we did some more mood work. 

We had to write on our whiteboard what we thought the picture meant. Then we did some maths. We are learning equivalent fractions.

Then we did some activities!!

Today in P.E we are doing dancing we started off with skipping  to get ready.People are learning to motivate each other and the people who are confident in dancing are the team leaders.we were to make up,our own moves and we where practiceing our moves all groups and then we will show the dances at the end

This morning we were learning how a writer creates the mood of a story and how the writer creates the mood of the setting.🤓

we got given new books to find information that the author is inferring to the setting.

Equivalent fractions

Next we did true or false with fractions and we had to explain why it was true or false.👩🏾‍💻

Then  we got into groups to see where you are there was circles if  you really don’t understand,triangles if you ok with it,squares if you are confident and know what to do.👍🏽

Then we got our worksheets and started

After lunch we did stikbot.

We were learning to create an animated film using a small movement. I can record my voice,move skitbot slowly,small movement and create an amazing video.
