🤛💪😀Mighty Monday😀💪🤜

Hello, readers, today it’s us, RM and JO writing the epic blog!

Proof:

First off, we did handwriting

We were writing and improving our letter joining and our letter height. Here are some pictures:

Second, it’s time for the *drumroll please*:

STAR WRITERS

Well done, star writers! They were: JC, DG, CP, AH, EC, and of course RM (thanks)

Thirdly, we made mindmaps about our reading books,

Dark Secrets by Anthony Masters, Raiders!, by Lynne Benton, and The Dangerous Planet by Nick Abadzis.

Mr McMullan made an excellent example with our class book, Skellig by David Almond!

Some epic work by the following: RM, LK, CP, CN, AJ, LM!

Next we did a lesson about the honey we harvested on Friday!

There was scum on top of it. Mr McMullan gave a great explanation if the difference between the words hydrophobic and hydrophilic. Hydrophobic means scared of water, whilst hydrophilic means loves water.

Everyone did some times tables and some even went on to Sumdog after!

Next, we played some Mystery Number, well done!

Wow, good answers😃and the questions are hard.

Next, we spoke about the situation in authoritarian states like China.

👍🏻😜Funky Friday😜👍🏻

Today in school we were learning how to extract the honey from the frames we did this with every class.

Top Tips

  • Don’t spin the extractor too fast
  • Always dry your knife
  • Don’t cut too deep into the frame
  • Cover the floor in paper

Steps on how to extract honey

  • clean everything
  • check taps are closed twice
  • boil kettle
  • cut off wax
  • take frame and put it in the extractor
  • start spinning it
  • go a bit faster
  • flip frames twice
  • stop spinning
  • tip honey into settling tank and sieve it in

With these skills we were able to make and drain the honey.👍🏻

Great work from every class!

After break we did a spelling test

After the spelling test we did some literacy.

After that we did the daily mile!

Then after lunch we looked at some Lego animations!

After watching the animations we started learning about our topic, STEM, which stands for: Science, technology, engineering and math. Today we looked at science!

After talking about science we did a challenge, the challenge was who can make a boat out of tinfoil which can hold the most rubbers, the winner had 60 rubbers on the boat before it sunk.
