Literacy
Warm up task = read a news website e.g. dogo news, newsround, bbc news and take notes about a story.
Main task
Today we are going to plan the setting and characters for a fantasy story which we will write tomorrow.
You need a main character who has the following
- Special features e.g. ability to fly.
- A quest – what is their purpose in the story e.g. are they trying to save someone from an evil character?
- A weakness e.g. scared of heights
You also need an evil character for the main character to go on a quest against.
Draw a picture of each character, plan at least 5 wow words for each character.
Extra challenge = plan idioms, personification, onomatopoeia for each character.
You also need to design a setting/fantasy world. You can base this on real life or make it up completely.
Some examples of great fantasy writing are The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. You could read/watch these to get your ideas going.
Handwriting/typing = write out this week’s spelling words in joined writing. Type them out as many times as you can in 5 minutes or play type racer.
Maths

Main task
I can plot coordinates accurately
I can go along before I go up
Extra challenge = can you draw out these coordinates and see what picture it creates?
Word problem of the day
I drive for 2 hours. I am driving at 30 mph average speed. I then speed up and drive at 40 mph for one hour and 60 mph for half an hour.
How far have I driven?
Top tip = 1 hour at 30 mph is 30 miles. Half an hour at 30 mph is 15 miles because 15 is half of 30
