We are all familiar with the “DAILY 10” maths resource and now would be a great time to use it. You can do one everyday and this will really help you keep your mental maths skills up. This is also a great chance for you to compete with your family. You could also make a spreadsheet to record your scores over time and see if you can improve!

Main task
Speak to someone at home about planning a weekly shop. Sit down and plan all the meals you will need to eat, all the snacks you need, any household items you need to stock up on (e.g. cleaning products) and anything else you need to buy.
Make a list of all the ingredients and things you need to buy.
Estimate how much you think this will cost. If you can, have a discussion about the budget for this shopping and if there are any decisions to make about specific products e.g. buying cheaper or more expensive ones, then discuss them.
Things to discuss:
How would this shopping list be different for the following people:
- An elderly couple
- A single man
- A family of 2 adults and 5 children
