Hello and welcome to our Primary 4 web page! We are an enthusiastic, friendly, respectful, and hard-working class and we are looking forward to an exciting year ahead.

We have had a fantastic start to our learning journey already this year. We are working on place value and time in numeracy, and our focus for writing this term is personal. We have enjoyed sharing some of our personal experiences which has been a great way to get to know each other. We are loving our novel study of James and the Giant Peach this term and we are using this novel as a stimulus to learn about friendship and kindness, things that are very important in our school and class.

At Whinhill, we are proud to be a dialogic school and talking and listening is at the heart of our learning. We use our talking and listening skills throughout the school day from our morning check in, to number talk strategies, to our reading discussions. We are also visible learners, and we think it’s important to reflect on our progress and to know our next step in our learning.

Learner participation is a huge focus for us at Whinhill, and P4 will play a huge role in making decisions for our learning. We have already designed and created our class charter which displays our rights and responsibilities which will help us to have a happy, positive, and safe learning journey. It is also extremely important to us to follow and demonstrate our Whinhill values to be role models to everyone around us.

This year we will be working along side Primary 5/4 to share parts of our learning journey. We have started to work together with P5/4 on a Monday for PE, and we are looking forward to working with them on different areas of the curriculum further in the term. We also have PE on a Thursday.
