Careers Appointments

The Careers Adviser, Mrs Dunlop will be in school on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Careers appointments will now be displayed on the UCAS notice board outside the Head Teacher’s office and on the notice board outside the Careers Library. Pupils should check these notice boards on Mondays for appointments. Please note Mrs Dunlop may have arranged an appointment for you even if you have not requested one so it is essential you consult these notice boards regularly.

College Courses Starting Jan 2013

There is a list of college courses starting January alongside the UCAS board in the admin corridor.

Any pupil considering leaving at Christmas and interested in a college course should have a look at the list.

The courses available range from introductory courses, NQ’s and HNC’s and are in a number of career areas.

If you see anything that interests you contact Mrs Ross ASAP.

Commonwealth Apprenticeship Initiative

This modern apprenticeship scheme will be open to apply to on Monday 12th Nov.

Apprenticeships are available from a variety of sectors e.g. Admin, Hospitality, Childcare, Construction, Engineering, Sports etc.

Any pupils from S4-S6 who are eligible to leave school at Christmas and who are interested in securing a apprenticeship should give their name to Mrs Ross ASAP.

S5/S6 Christmas Leavers – Modern Apprenticeship in Childcare

Any pupil in S5/S6 pupil interested in a career in Childcare who intends to leave at Christmas should contact his/her Pastoral Care teacher to find out more information about apprenticeships being offered by Private Nurseries. You must be aged 16-19yrs old and have achieved 3 Standard Grades at bands 1-3(one of which must be English) or equivalent grades at Intermediate level. You would be undertaking a Modern Apprenticeship in Childcare and work towards an SVQ Level 3 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development.
