S1
Practical Work
This consists of a fully inclusive curriculum where all pupils are able to engage in over 12 sports learning higher order thinking and cognitive skills, physical competencies. They also will learn gross and fine motor skills and develop their physical qualities through stimulating and fun lessons focusing on practical skills and personal qualities.
S2
Practical Work
This consists of a fully inclusive curriculum where all pupils are able to engage in over 12 sports learning higher order thinking and cognitive skills, physical competencies. They will continue to develop their gross and fine motor skills and learn to apply these skills in increasingly challenging and demanding performance contexts in fun and engaging lessons focusing on practical skills and personal qualities.
S3
Practical Work
This consists of a fully inclusive curriculum where all pupils are able to engage in a variety of sporting activities, with a focus on roles and responsibilities, tactics, and principles of play. They will continue to develop their motor skills and ability to apply these skills in relation to other performers and players in varying performance contexts of increasing complexity through social and fun lessons focusing on practical skills and personal qualities.
Elective
- Pupils will learn about the 4 factors (mental, emotional, social and physical) impacting performance
- Pupils will complete several cycles of analysis where they will gather information about their own performance, identify their strengths and weaknesses, prepare development plans to improve their identified weaknesses, then evaluate their development
- The pupils complete a Portfolio which is worth 50% of your overall mark
- Pupils will also prepare for practical performance, where they will develop their performance ability and understanding on a minimum of two different sporting activities
- This course is a requirement if a pupil would like to choose National PE in S4.
