XL Tea Party

Tea PArtyThe S3 XL class organised and hosted a tea party on 9th June. The class invited residents from our local elderly care homes to come along for an afternoon of tea, coffee, home-baking and live entertainment.

Our guests enjoyed the refreshments provided, much of which was created by pupils in our Home Economics Department, and were enthralled by the array of music and drama provided by our Performing Arts Department. Many of our visitors won prizes in the raffle and everyone then joined in the sing-along led by Mrs MacVicar and Mrs Carpy.

Our guests thoroughly enjoyed their visit and many commented on how impressed they were by the conduct of all the pupils involved.

Well done!!

Commonwealth Week

It is Commonwealth Week this week and many lessons in school will have a Commonwealth Games link to them.

On Friday 13th June, there will be some Commonwealth activities on at lunch time in the P.E gyms for anyone who would like to come down and have a go.

We will have badminton, table tennis and high jump. Depending on the weather, we may have a version of lawn bowls on the front pitch.

Watch this space for photos from the weeks events.

Maths Challenge Success

On Wednesday June 4, Lourdes Secondary’s Maths Department held their second Primary Maths Challenge event and it was even more exciting than the first!
This time around, the event was even more popular as many schools entered two teams into the competition, meaning pupils were competing against each other and to be the best team in their school!! Rounds included solving Math-anagrams, Countdown puzzles, Logic Round and the Relay race.
Going into the final round, teams from two schools were tied for first place.
Previous runners up, St Marnock’s Primary emerged victorious this time and were delighted to be awarded the trophy, presented by Lourdes Secondary Head Teacher Gerry McGuigan
