Holocaust Memorial Day

Today, we commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day. We remember all those murdered and persecuted during the Holocaust and the genocides that have followed. In PSE this week we are delivering lessons to remember all of those who suffered.

School Show 2022!

After two long years…school show is BACK! Our school show this year is Matilda Jr. and is open to all pupils in S1-S6. If you think you could be our next Matilda Wormwood or Miss Trunchbull or, just fancy being part of the ensemble come along to Mrs Gray’s classroom (Drama – 121) on Monday 24th January at 3.15pm to find out more about the show and all the parts on offer.

FISO Partnership

We are delighted to announce that Lourdes Secondary will be working in partnership with Citizens Advice and now have the support of a Financial Inclusion Support Officer, Claire Kelly.

Financial Inclusion Support Officers (FISO) will be providing support to parents and children from schools across Glasgow.

Claire can give advice and support to families on a wide range of areas including:

  • Education related benefits eg. Free School Meals, Education Maintenance Allowance, School Clothing grants etc. (see support for families books for more info)
  • Up to Level 2 holistic advice in line with generalist advisers role in CAB
  • Welfare Rights – benefit entitlement checks, help in applying for benefits, completing benefit applications for clients, MR’s for benefit decisions
  • Housing – housing association complaints, property repairs/issues, factor issues, rental agreements etc
  • Debt – can be covered whether it be for income/expenditure forms, benefit overpayments, council tax/rent arrears, credit card/loan repayments etc. We can help to contact creditors and send out holding letters as well as negotiate payment plans etc.
  • Consumer Affairs

Claire will be available in the school to meet with parents on Wednesday afternoons. Appointments can be arranged by contacting Claire on 07790 544 817.

S5 and S6 Interim Assessments

A reminder to all S5 and S6 parents/ carers that the S5 and S6 Interim Assessments will take place from Wednesday 19 January – Tuesday 25 January 2022. School operates as normal for all S5 and S6 pupils on Monday 17 January and Tuesday 18 January. Study Leave will be applied only to the 5 school days of the Assessment Diet. An updated copy of the timetable, which reflects some small changes only to accommodation, is at the link below.

Pupils are reminded to wear school uniform at all times and to ensure that they arrive early for each assessment.

The third Tracking Report for S4 pupils has been issued by email to Parents and Pupils.

Young Persons’ Free Bus Travel Scheme

From the 31st January, Transport Scotland are introducing free bus travel to everyone in Scotland aged from 5-21 years of age. To receive free travel, your child must have a National Entitlement Card (NEC) or a Young Scot NEC which has to be scanned each time they board a bus.

PLEASE NOTE THAT AN EXISTING YOUNG SCOT CARD WILL NOT WORK AND THEY NEED TO APPLY FOR A NEW CARD.

Anyone who does not have a new style card will not be eligible for free travel and will have to pay the normal fare.

For anyone aged under 16 years of age, the parent/guardian must apply.
