Responsible Citizens – Virtual Burns Supper

The Transition class were Responsible Citizens this week when they recorded a virtual Burns Supper for the rest of the school to watch on Burns Night. They set up the classroom to look like a real Burns Supper, setting the table and dressing the room and then took the responsibility for different elements of the ‘night’. We had the haggis piped in, speeches and we finished with a sung and signed rendition of Auld Land Syne. The videos were then uploaded to the school computer to share with all the other classes. Well done everyone!

Confident Individuals – Drake Music

At our Drake Music time this week the Transition class were Confident Individuals. After our warm up things started to get more complicated! The class listened well and followed hand signals to make different sounds, some high and some low. They then followed colours and shapes to contribute to a class performance of Auld Lang Syne. We are all looking forward to next week!

IDL – Making Boats From Recyclables

*Effective Contributors*   *Responsible Citizens*

The Snowdrops have been working hard on our Glasgow Gruffalo theme this week and after seeing pictures of the River Clyde we decided to have some water play and make our own boats. We gathered some recyclable materials to make our boats and worked in pairs to choose items that we would add to the base of our boat. We decorated sails for our boat and attached these, too. The Snowdrops worked well together and everyone contributed to the making of our fleet! Great work, Snowdrops!

IDL: Global Goal 2 – Zero Hunger

*Successful Learners* *Responsible Citizens*

We had a great time this week exploring our ECO targets in class.  We set ourselves the task of finding a way to not waste so much food in the kitchen during cookery.  We decided to find a way to use discarded food by making our own wormery using soil, sand, stones, leaves and vegetable peelings from the soup that we made.

IDL – Numeracy

This week we went on a treasure hunt looking for theme pictures. Our theme is Katie Morag and we were looking for pictures of the characters and places from the stories. We went to the garden to see if we could find any. We were confident individuals exploring the garden to find all the pictures that were hidden.  Some of the pictures were big and some were small making them tricky to find. We had to look high and low to find all the pictures around the garden.

IDL Evidence – Sing/sign Scottish Nursery Rhymes

The Asteroids have enjoyed learning and singing some Scottish songs as part of our topic, Brave.
We have all made good attempts to sign some of the words in the songs and some of us have been singing too.
We laughed at some of the funny Scottish words. One of our favourite songs is ‘You Cannie Shove Yer Grannie aff a Bus”.
