Oak Home Learning 22nd Feb

Hello my lovely Oak team, let’s get started with another weeks worth of work.

Please click on this weeks date to download all your tasks presented in our weekly overview document.  22nd Feb

February is LGBT month and this Friday is ‘Purple Friday’.  We haven’t been all together to complete the work planned.  However last week on Vscene we completed some work to lead us into the activities for this week.  We will continue to do more work for LGBT month during our Vscene this week.

You have a few stories to listen to on Youtube, one you will know well as it is Mrs Murray’s favourite book! The other is a new one which we will read together on our Vscene session.  Both stories are based on Kindness, Acceptance, Respect, Support and Spirit.  The main moral of both stories, be proud of who you are and never change to be like anyone else.

Your task for Purple Friday, on a purple piece of paper, can you get an adult to draw you a Chameleon and stick this onto the purple paper.  I would like your chameleon to be your very own design, you can decorate it anyway you want.  On your paper, add your name in big letters.  This chameleon is going to represent you.  Also add a rainbow onto your purple paper.  I am looking forward to seeing your pictures on our Vscene session on Friday morning.

Also, on your daily walk this week, keep an eye out for a stone.  If you find one, take it home, wash it and write ‘Hope’ on it.  Take a picture of you holding your stone and please email to Mrs Murray.

All the adults in the Oak team have HOPE that we will all be back together soon, having fun together and learning!

So this week’s blog is all about our differences and our similiarites

Literacy, Nature, Art and Craft.

📚🦩🐟🐧🎨

Below is a suggestion for a couple of books, some we have read before,  but they all have a silimar theme that we are all different in some ways, the same in others but we are all unique.

The Flamingo that didn’t want to be Pink🦩

What about making yourself a Flamingo – the only rule is  it cannot just be PINK!! Maryland Zoo has a Caribbean Flamingo called ‘Bumper’ you can learn all about him, find out what he eats and how tall he is, and even watch him and his friends on the live web cam. Maryland Zoo

Next the Rainbow Fish, in this link it is read by Ernest Borgnine (he has been in a lot of Movies!) The Rainbow Fish

What about making a colourful sparkly fish, I will send you all some instructions. What about going onto the internet and seeing if you can find any real rainbow fish.

Last year in class we read Tango makes 3 we really enjoyed this story, so thought you would like to hear it again. This is a lovely story all about two boy penguins called Roy and Silo, then baby Tango comes along. You can look up loads of information on penguins.

All about Penguins 🐧

Lets practice signing all the different colours

Weekly Home Learning – Week 5

Hi, everyone!

Start off your week with this lovely, uplifting story called ‘The World Made a Rainbow’ by Michelle Robinson.  The story talks about lots of different but relevant thoughts and emotions that some of us might be experiencing just now – I hope it makes you smile.

Why not keep in touch with someone you miss by making them their own rainbow card?

Here are some suggested Home learning activities for you to try out if you want😊 They are based around our ILP’s!

BONUS ACTIVITY:

This year, Chinese New Year celebrations will begin Friday 12th February.  To help celebrate, why not read some traditional Chinese fables and stories together as a family?  We have access to a wonderful literacy resource website called Giglets.  Use this link to access the website and use the login details that will be sent to you via email to log in.  I have chosen a couple of short stories for you to explore, all of them have a Chinese theme.  Let me know how you get on if you give this resource a go!

Remember to only do what you can and tell yourself every day that you are doing amazingly 😊
